It's M&M Game Week!
Hard to believe that the M&M Game is just a couple days away. The big game kicks off from Higley in Marinette Friday night at 7:00.
The second episode of the Maroon Way last season featured some local historians in M&M Game history. Larry Ebsch, George Ihler and Joe Noha joined me in the studio and we talked about the history, tradition and a whole lot more associated with the game.

2022 Maroons

It’s been over two weeks since we’ve been in Lansing. I just got home. Leaving for spring break immediately following the state championship really hasn’t given me the opportunity to settle in to find closure for the season. The Menominee Boys Basketball Team had their welcome home ceremony in front of a large crowd Wednesday. Due to being on one of a thousand or so flights cancelled last weekend, I was unable to attend. It would have been nice to have one more opportunity to share the gym with this group and the fans.
I’ve had the opportunity to broadcast high school sports for over 20 years. This season is the reason I do it. Winters get long and it does gets old, but the payoff is worth it. High School Basketball makes the cold months go by so much easier. There are some bumps, I’m not going to lie. Forty-plus games my family has in a season is a lot, and who wants to go to Ewen-Trout Creek on a Tuesday? It’s a Maroon family, we are a part of it.
The Maroon Family is one of a kind. Once you’re in it, you understand.
Every year new families come in; nobody ever really leaves. We meet new people, learn about new players and get to know their families. I’m lucky enough to have them let me in their lives through the radio or at the games.
Families rally around the Maroons from near and far. The support from the parents this year with every little thing from organizing dinners, controlling tickets, supporting travel… all the behind-the-scenes aspects nobody sees was covered and they were there to support the team. During the M&M game I was fortunate enough to meet the family of a player who would listen to every game via our stream. That same family hopped on a plane from Seattle after the win over Ecorse and flew to Lansing to support him in the finals, how exciting is that.
This year was special. It was special to everyone. It was special to me. Bringing my family to the game meant more to me then the broadcast itself. This seaso

Multiple records in track were broken and we have a new leader for most offense yards gained in football game. In the 1998 Class BB State Championship game, arguably the greatest play in Menominee Football history occurred. We discuss that sequence in the latest episode of The Maroon Way. Here is a sneak peek:

My favorite segment on the Maroon Way is Mini-Maroons. We do our best to feature the accomplishments of what our kids have done throughout the week...
Between those highlights and having Kylee and Jaxon introducing the segment, it doesn't get any better!
