Mzuzu City has a great problem with waste management
The video below has been taken outside a government building which houses the Office of the President and Cabinet (OPC), the District Commissioners office (DC), District Social Welfare Office, National Registration Bureau (NRB), Malawi National Council of Sports (MNCS) and the District Youth Office in Mzuzu City.

The garbage tossed around and left uncollected causing worry for some citizens.

We fully stand with Ms Seodi White who confronted a Church in her neighbourhood for making noise.

This disrespectful selfish uneducated behavior was something intolerable and embarrassing to me while stuck in this country. The public noise pollution at levels unheard of anywhere in the world is unhealthy and disturbing and the Authorities including the District Councils don't care. I wrote the District Commissioners and the Minister of local government in the Office of the President and Cabinet several times regarding this gross problem in the Nkhata Bay Area to no avail as usual…

Ms White says the authorities did not act, hence this option.
This is also an opportunity to talk on the bus preachers. Please, let people travel in peace and be in their homes in peace. The problem is that some believers feel they are justified to invade other people's space because they are doing God's work.

Please, most decent people don't need your noise. Religion must be a private affair

In an unexpected turn of events, six individuals, accused of counterfeiting Malawi Revenue Authority (MRA) receipts worth K1.1 billion, have been granted bail by Senior Resident Magistrate Wanangwa Nyirenda in Lilongwe. This high-profile case, which unfolded during the holiday season, has sent shockwaves across the country, revealing grave loopholes in the financial security system.

𝗦𝘁𝗶𝗳𝗳 𝗕𝗮𝗶𝗹 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗱𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀
The bail conditions, while offering temporary respite to the accused, are far from lenient. Each person has been ordered to pay K1 million in cash, provide K10 million in non-cash surety, and report to the Police headquarters biweekly. In an additional blow to their freedom, the defendants have been barred from setting foot on MRA premises and Melton Hardware shops, drastically limiting their movements.

Among the accused, McDonald Takumana and Ali Wisky, both employees of Melton Hardware, have been highlighted. Takumana, a Sales Clerk, and Wisky, an Accounts Assistant, were reportedly involved in generating the counterfeit MRA receipts. Their participation enabled the distribution of these bogus documents to unsuspecting business owners, without making any actual sales. This elaborate ruse allowed them to pocket an enormous sum of K1.1 billion.

As the investigation continues, this case serves as a stark reminder of the extent to which individuals are willing to go for illicit gains. It also underscores the need for stringent checks and balances in financial systems to prevent such fraudulent activities from occurring.

The Malawi Revenue Authority (MRA) has suspended at least six officers over an alleged multimillion-kwacha fraud.

The scheme reportedly involved a group of insiders and certain non-governmental organisations allegedly involved in the fraud, using forged tax exemption certificates to claim taxpayer money inappropriately, the Platform for Investigative Journalism (PIJ) can exclusively report.

The fraudulent operation involved the use of tax certificates to claim VAT refunds from the MRA by organisations falsely asserting they had paid VAT. Under the guise of VAT exemption status, these organisations erroneously received millions in refunds, insiders report.

This is exactly what I experienced and talked about in my Social Media videos. In one case, I mentioned that when I entered the ‘Mchinji’ border post with friends who were allowed to enter, I was held up while the Immigration Officer ignored me waiting for me to give in and hand her money while others are being stamped and I stood there feeling humiliated and embarrassed..

Malawi Government has approved new minimum wage rates for general workers which show an 80% increase from K50,000 to K90,000 per month, the Nation Newspaper have reported.

This means that it goes against the law of the country to pay a full time worker under the minimum amount of K90,000 and paying them late.

Throughout my years in the country I abided by the labor laws including paying my workers on time usually by the 28th of each month even when absent from the country. Although never having an established business, I did have men watching my investment properties day and night (both properties which were shut down illegally and under the threat of theft aided by Malawi Government officials)

It is unconscienable for a business owner to pay any full time worker below the minimum wage especially a night watchman who arrives before sundown about 6pm and leaves about 6am and is outside in the weather and faces danger daily. Some have the habit of even late payments consistently and many are doing this…

the businesses in Nkhata Bay should be all investigated for this problem

In my Social Media videos I have spoken about this corrupt behavior at the ports of entries. I mentioned that it has happened to me many times at the overland borders including Songwe and Kamazu Airport.

The treatment from the Staff at these entry points against tourists is a great discouragement, annoying, embarrassing and shameful
