If you are local, be sure to grab a copy of the July Mississippi Christian Living Magazine to check out our very own Lauren Dove Williams sharing her thoughts on managing expectations! Not local? Click here: https://mschristianliving.com/modern-motherhood-are-you-expecting-too-much-of-yourself/ to read online!

What if, when we encounter unmet expectations, we stopped to consider that it might be the expectation that needed to change, and not the circumstances?

If your list of “shoulds” and expectations only align with the world and not scripture, then it’s time to take those thoughts captive.

Do you have expectations you need to shift because the circumstances won't be changing? Tell us about them!

Do you have a friend who would be encouraged from this word? Share it with them!

We get busy. We get wrapped up in our own worlds with our schedules and lists to check off each day. And we rarely think about those in - or out - of our circles that are living each day under very different circumstances. She may look like you, but her days look different because she’s a solo mom.

Listen to our latest episode with Jamie Rasberry, a working mom who also happens to be a single, or “solo,” mom. We walk through her story and learn so much about how we can do better to support and encourage other moms who need a little extra help in her village.

Check it out here.

Okay y’allllll….our first megastar is on the podcast, and you want to listen on your ride home today. We had the honor of taking to Heather Land - I Ain't Doin It who is paving the way for women everywhere to laugh so we don’t cry. Our time with her was amazing, and we covered sooo much ground - boundaries, crying in the shower, divorce and more. This one gives us all the emotions. Heather is on tour now, so go see her live if you haven’t already. ❤️Thank you for being real with us about what it takes to be a working mom.

Thanks to The Source by BankPlus for sponsoring this episode!

You should be able to do it all.

Your house should always be both picked up & clean (because let's be honest, those are two different things...)

You should exercise 3-5 times a week.

Since you are working and not staying home, you need to be uber-successful to justify it. If you aren't making six-figures and/or being recognized as one of the best in your industry, are you even doing it right? Is it even worth it?

You can pick up a side-hustle if you need to help off-set the above. Just work harder.

Your family needs to eat a home cooked dinner around the table at-least 4 days a week. (But watch your macros and make sure everything is logged in MyFitnessPal)

Frequent date-nights with your husband to steak houses & concerts are essential.

Girls trips are needed for every female in every situation and every stage of life forever.

You need to be in a small group Bible study that meets weekly.

You have to take multiple trips to the beach every summer.

If your kids don't get to try every single extra-curricular activity at least once you are holding them back.

Don't forget your regular hair and nail appointments. But be sure to schedule them during your lunch break. You can just grab a shake and loaded tea, because if you do it during work hours you are short-changing your job and if you do it during family hours you are short changing your time with them.

What? You don't have a hobby for yourself? You need an outlet. You need to play tennis or plant a garden or something.

What civic organization have you joined? Junior league? Rotary? It's important to give back your know...

Speaking of giving back, I hope you are volunteering plenty. At the very least make sure you are room-mom so your kid doesn't think only the stay-at-home moms love their kids and are involved.

Make sure you get 8 hours of sleep every night. You'll need it to get all this done everyday...

**Disclaimer: obviously this list is written in jest, and nothing on the list is bad in and of itself.

But y'all... success and value and worth can not be obtained from checking off all the things above. Comparison steals joy.

What expectation do you want to add to the list?!

A few weeks ago, we posted a real, raw post about the carpool line and the stories we make up about other mamas. Y'all spoke OUT, letting us know how much you felt seen and heard.

The truth is, we are CONSTANTLY making up stories that become our "truth" when the real story might be much different than what we tell ourselves. Our job is to recognize the story and the shame we are letting creep into our minds and stop to feel more and let ourselves see the bigger picture and...the actual truth.

Our latest podcast might sting a little, but it also might heal. We sat down with Sherry Toler, Licensed Professional Counselor and gifted working mom that speaks straight to shame triggers and how to keep our mental health in check as working moms.

Life is hard. Every day sometimes can feel like an uphill battle. But we hope this gives you what you need to press on, mama.

Sooooo much wisdom from on non-traditional work schedules and how to conquer life when your career isn’t an 8-5. We loved her insight about how to make things that may not seem “normal” something that’s normal in her household. Check it out by listening to Episode 7.

Today is National Single Parent Awareness Day, and we couldn’t let the day go by without recognizing the single working mamas out there who take being a working mom to the next level. 💪

Janet Parker, professional rockstar and mama to two, talks about life as a single working mom on the blog. Obviously, the life we imagine as a newlywed is not always the way things go, and Janet gives insight on how to ACCEPT and GIVE grace in all seasons as a single working mom.

Check out her beautifully-written encouragement for single moms (and dads) on the blog.

We’re getting real and a little more serious on today’s podcast. We are thrilled to feature Dr. Marty Gebhart, Board Certified Nurse Practitioner with decades of her career dedicated specifically to infertility. She is SUCH a joy to be around and gives some amazing insight on not only how to cope with first and second-time infertility but also how to support friends who are going through it as well. ❤️ We had a blast talking to her about and her skincare tips (bc her skin is flawless y’all). Enjoy!

Mama, are you listening? 👂
Such a great word from Charlotte Seals, Superintendent of Madison County Schools, mama of two and a true community servant. She spells it out for all of us, and we need to listen.

Self care doesn’t just mean a pedicure every once in a while. It means investing in your passions, so you can be the best version of you for everyone around you.

TGIF!!! 🤩🤩🤩 Tag a teacher, educator or school administrator below because this is a MUST READ today. ✨ Sometimes, as a working mom, your profession requires you to pour into others all day at a job, then go home and pour into your family. We are here to say, what you are doing is next-level hard, and you deserve allllll the applause, mama! 👏

Today, on the blog, we hear from Charlotte Seals, the rockstar Superintendent of the Madison County Schools in Madison, Mississippi.

Not only has Charlotte raised her own two children, but she has poured into an endless number of children throughout her career and STILL made time to invest in her community in many ways as a life member of Junior Auxiliary of Madison, past president of both the local chapter and the National Association of Junior Auxiliaries and past president of the Junior League of Jackson. She was also formerly a board member and chair of the Mississippi Metropolitan Ballet, a former member of the Mississippi Children's Museum Board of Directors and the MCM Partners Board.

Y’all....if anybody knows what it’s like to love her family, her students and her community, Charlotte is the one. We know you will LOVE her wisdom on the blog. Make sure you stop long enough today to take the time to read it. ❤️

May your weekend be as cozy as us recording in the podcast studio. ❄️

Seriously though, many of you have asked what it looks like to record a podcast, so here it is in a nutshell. When we started, we lined up questions and, of course, had a plan in mind as far as what we wanted to learn from each guest, but this is literally what it looks like when we record . And we couldn’t be prouder to say that it looks like a couch conversation with coffee ☕️ and a friend, and that’s exactly what we want you to feel when you listen to our podcast.

We don’t do scripted because life isn’t scripted. And working moms aren’t scripted. We don’t self-record or self-produce because we decided walking in and sitting down without stress added to the process was our goal (shout out 📣 Blue Sky Studios).

So, this is actually what it looks like. We walk in, we sit down, we talk. If you want real and authentic convos on the couch, come sit with us over here. Listen to The Home and The Hustle wherever you listen to podcasts.

Rolling into weekend like 💕💕💕
In case you missed it, yesterday we introduced Chandler of Peach and Pine Interiors as our most recent podcast guest. Chandler breaks down best practices for a family-friendly home space that looks - and functions - beautifully. It’s also the perfect listen for working mamas who work from home and are trying to successfully separate work from home. You’ll LOVE this podcast!🌸

We dropped a new podcast today with a super special guest, Chandler Quarles, of Peach and Pine Interiors. Chandler not only covers off on making your home a space you love, but also how to separate work and family when you work with your spouse, resting on Sabbath and how to create work environment in your house (even if it’s an ironing board).

We love this conversation with Chandler and know you will, too! Check it out here:

Okay mama...if you’re still in search for the perfect favor for school, you are in luck! Our sweet and talented friend at has given us some creative ideas for Valentine’s Day that work for boys or girls, and she even includes some awesome tips to make this holiday a little more fun and a little less stressful. Let’s be honest, sometimes these holidays sneak up on us, and the last thing we want is to dread something that can be fun for those sweet kiddos! 💕

Read Emily’s tips on the blog.

Love is in the Air and so are all the individually wrapped valentine’s this year! But, just because covid has us all crazy doesn’t mean that that treats have to be lackluster too. In fact, let’s count it all JOY that things are a touch less high maintenance and have some extra fun, right?
