In an amateurish display of political manoeuvring, Isiolo Governor Abdi Guyo and Women Rep Mumina Bonaya have found themselves at the centre of a controversy that has rocked United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party. The two leaders allegedly ferried two matatus full of Isiolo residents to the UDA Party Headquarters in a brazen attempt to circumvent the upcoming grassroots party elections scheduled for the end of this month.
Eyewitnesses report that Governor Guyo and Women Rep Bonaya arrived at the party offices with a delegation of supporters, arguing that a consensus had been reached and that there was no need for the grassroots elections to take place. In a stunning twist, Mumina Bonaya produced a lengthy list of Isiolo County residents, complete with ID numbers, phone numbers, and signatures, claiming that these individuals supported their call for the appointments to be made without an election.
