*ISIOLO GOVERNOR AND WOMEN REP ATTEMPT TO HIJACK UDA PARTY ELECTIONS BUT THWARTED*
In an amateurish display of political manoeuvring, Isiolo Governor Abdi Guyo and Women Rep Mumina Bonaya have found themselves at the centre of a controversy that has rocked United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party. The two leaders allegedly ferried two matatus full of Isiolo residents to the UDA Party Headquarters in a brazen attempt to circumvent the upcoming grassroots party elections scheduled for the end of this month.
Eyewitnesses report that Governor Guyo and Women Rep Bonaya arrived at the party offices with a delegation of supporters, arguing that a consensus had been reached and that there was no need for the grassroots elections to take place. In a stunning twist, Mumina Bonaya produced a lengthy list of Isiolo County residents, complete with ID numbers, phone numbers, and signatures, claiming that these individuals supported their call for the appointments to be made without an election.
However, an investigation by (DIB) has revealed that the signatures on the list were collected under dubious circumstances. The list, it turns out, was compiled during a recent food distribution exercise spearheaded by the Child Welfare Society of Kenya in conjunction with Bonaya's office. This revelation has sparked outrage among Isiolo residents, who feel that their signatures were obtained under false pretenses and are now being used to subvert the democratic process.
As news of the attempted hijacking spread, a group of prominent Isiolo leaders rushed to the UDA Party Headquarters to thwart the sinister plan. The delegation, led by Isiolo Senator Fatuma Dullo, immediate former Isiolo Women Rep Rehema Jaldesa, and former Isiolo South MP Abdul Bahari, demanded that the party elections be conducted in a free and fair manner to determine the legitimate UDA party leaders in Isiolo County.
Rehema Jaldesa, a vocal advocate for transparency in politics, voiced her concerns, stating, "We can not allow a few individuals to manipulate the democratic process for their own gain. The people of Isiolo deserve to have their voices heard through a fair and transparent election. We will not stand by and watch as our party's integrity is compromised."
The incident has also brought to light Governor Abdi Guyo's alleged history of election rigging. During the 2022 elections, Guyo reportedly forced the Jubilee party, on whose ticket he vied, to issue direct tickets and forgo nominations, effectively disadvantaging all other aspirants who intended to contest on the party's platform. Furthermore, his 2022 victory has been attributed to alleged rigging, voter buying, and voter suppression tactics, a factor that the team Rehema, Dullo, and Bahari have vowed to address.
As the controversy unfolds, the UDA party finds itself at a crossroads, with its commitment to democratic principles and fairness being put to the test. The party leadership must now navigate the delicate balance between ensuring the integrity of its grassroots elections and managing the competing interests of its members.
The people of Isiolo County, meanwhile, are watching closely, their faith in the democratic process hanging in the balance. Many are calling for a thorough investigation into the alleged misuse of signatures collected during the food distribution exercise and for those responsible to be held accountable.
As the date of the grassroots party elections draws near, all eyes are on the UDA party to ensure that the process is conducted in a transparent, free, and fair manner. The outcome of these elections will not only determine the leadership of the party in Isiolo County but will also serve as a litmus test for the party's commitment to democratic ideals and the rule of law.
In the face of this challenge, the UDA party must stand firm and demonstrate its resolve to uphold the principles upon which it was founded. Only by ensuring a level playing field and allowing the voice of the people to be heard can the party hope to maintain its credibility and secure its place as a champion of democracy in Kenya.keep it dib,the home of reliable intel.
