Our country's history of experimenting on humans is long and ugly, but sometimes the person conducting the experiments was not evil, but actually trying to solve an issue. During the Vietnam War, MACV-SOG and the CIA operated an island that hosted North Vietnamese fishermen. The fishermen were served great food and a whopper of a tale about the Sacred Sword of the Patriots League. It didn't exist, but it sure would have been nice if it had.
