Hello Everyone! I'm Steve Burke (S.M. Burke), and Oakwood is a middle grade novel I just published. It's about a boy named Kyle Womack who spends nine days at Oakwood Children's Hospital.
Having worked at a private psychiatric hospital in upstate New York for twenty-six years, I wanted to try and show what it is like for kids at similar facilities. I also wanted to explore what hospitals could be, and maybe even should be like.
