Diamond and Gillan unfurl a collection of transcendental folk narratives in their addition to the legacy of freely improvised saxophone/drum duos. Deep melodic and textural meditations unfold during a pre-pandemic live performance at Chicago's beloved house of creative work, Elastic Arts Foundation.
Through close and connective listening the duo swerves nimbly between metered groove and non-pulse sound canvases. This recording shows the influence of earth-bound reed/drum duos like Lloyd/Higgins and McPhee/Drake.

Diamond and Gillan unfurl a collection of transcendental folk narratives in their addition to the legacy of freely improvised saxophone and drum duos. Perigee captures them in deep melodic and textural meditations that unfolded during a pre-pandemic live performance at Chicago's beloved house of creative work, Elastic Arts Foundation. Through close connective listening the duo swerve nimbly between metered groove and non-pulsed sound canvases. This document shows the influence of earth-bound reed/drum duos like Lloyd/Higgins and McPhee/Drake more so than the more stratospheric reachings of Coltrane/Ali or Redman/Blackwell. Diamond's diverse contributions as a multi-instrumentalist sound artist in the current Chicago Creative Music community continue beautifully with this release.

We Stand is the first in the Metal and Wood series which is a collection of live improvisations between woodwind artist Hunter Diamond and various drummers living in the United States.

During a month-long residency at Bo**el Chicago in March of 2020 (cut short by the pandemic shutdown), the historical relationship between the saxophone and the drums was explored by Diamond and Rumback, resulting in this collection of unbridled melodic frames and textures that draw from the ambient, experimental, and freely improvised limbs of jazz.

Proud to announce the very first Curio release / debut solo project from Hunter Diamond!

"Reflective Nostalgia" (CUR001) captures a site-specific improvisation by Hunter Diamond playing saxophone in the Atlantic Center for the Arts outdoor amphitheater on a warm July night. With accompaniment from various creatures and machines indicative of the local environment, Reflective Nostalgia is Diamond's meditation on the relationship between his North Florida upbringing and his current life in the Chicago creative music community.
