Malawi’s plans to send over 5000 young people to engage in agricultural work in Israel despite the criticism President Lazarus Chakwera and his administration got for dispatching 221 young Malawians last weekend.

"We are looking at an initial figure of around 5,000, that's what we are targeting now," Malawi Information Minister Moses Kunkuyu told the BBC Newsday programme earlier today.

The minister defended the much-criticised move, saying that it was part of the government's ongoing program of providing employment to young people locally and abroad.

"This has been happening in Malawi for decades and we've been exporting young people to countries in Africa and outside Africa," Mr Kunkuyu added.

In a statement Malawian opposition leader Kondwani Nankhumwa said “Sending people to a war-torn country like Israel, where some countries are withdrawing their labour is something unheard of.”

PRESIDENT DEPARTS TO DUBAI FOR COP28 UN CLIMATE CHANGE CONFERENCE

JUBA, 30 November 2023 (PPU): President Kiir on Thursday morning travelled to Dubai to join other world leaders for the annual United Nations conference on climate change.

The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Ramadan Mohamed Abdalla Goc said President Kiir will hold sidelines to discuss regionl peace and security, including the crisis in Sudan.

The COP28 will mark a milestone as the world takes stock of its progress on the Paris Agreement and facilitate efforts to align climate action and address gaps in progress.

Organisers say the conference provides an opportunity for world leaders to join their efforts to accelerate the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and protecting nations that are most vulnerable to climate change, many of them in the Global South.

حكومة إقليم دارفور تستقبل أدوية و مواد اغاثة

الفاشر 5-10-2023 (سونا)-وصلت أمس إلى مدينة الفاشر بشمال دارفور حوالي الفين شاحنة محملة بالادوية ومواد اغاثة والسلع التجارية والوقود قادمة من ولاية النيل الابيض إلى إقليم دارفور ضمن الجهود الرامية إلى إنسياب حركة القوافل التجارية وإعادة الحياة إلى طبيعتها في إقليم دارفور.

وإستقبل والي شمال دارفور نمر محمد عبدالرحمن وأمين حكومه إقليم دارفور مولانا محمد علي، بمقر دار الأرقم بمدينة الفاشر الشاحنات وسط فرحة لمواطني الولاية.

وقال نمر خلال مخاطبته الإستقبال إن القوة المشتركة أفلحت في إيصال الشاحنات لمدينة الفاشر وأوضح أن من بينها شاحنات للوقود وبعض المستلزمات الإستهلاكية والطبية.

وأشار إلى الجهد المبذول من هذه القوة في حماية المواطنين وممتلكاتهم وابان أن عمليات الطوف الخاص بإيصال الشاحنات تستمر إلى أن يستتب الأمن في البلاد.

كما لفت إلى أن ذلك يسهم بصورة كبيرة في إنعاش الحركة التجارية داخل الأسواق ووعد بالعمل مع الجميع في سبيل إيقاف الحرب وتحقيق السلام والإستقرار .

من جانبه قدم أمين عام حكومة إقليم دارفور شكره لكافة عناصر القوة المشتركة وقيادتهم مثمناً دورهم في سبيل إيصال القوافل إلى دارفور.

وأشار إلي ضرورة إيجاد قوانين وتنسيق محكم لحماية هذه القوافل كما جدد تاكيده بالوقوف مع هذه القوة حتى تضطلع بدورها تجاه حماية المواطنين في الإقليم.

Mrs Kufuor served as First Lady from January 2001 to January 2009 and is remembered for her dedicated work in advancing maternal and child healthcare in Ghana.

PRESIDENT KIIR MEETS RUSSIA'S PUTIN,DISCUSS EXPANSION OF TIES BETWEEN THE TWO COUNTRIES

MOSCOW, September 28th 2023- President Kiir and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin have agreed to expand ties between Juba and Moscow.

In their meeting this morning,President Kiir and Putin agreed to strengthen the existing relations between the two countries in areas of Trade, investment, energy and other sectors.

The two heads of State also discussed peace and security in Africa and international affairs.

President Kiir expressed commitment to bolster stronger ties with Russia through collaborations in different fields in a bid to achieve a sustainable development.

On his part, President Putin said Russia is ready to expand bilateral relations with South Sudan in areas of economy, development, trade, energy and education.

President Kiir also attended a wreath-laying ceremony at the Tomb of the Soldiers by the Kremlin Wall and the monument in honour of the Cities of Military Glory.

In his virtual address during 2023 BRICS Summit held in Johannesburg in August, the Russian President said Moscow intends to deepen ties with African countries, and that it would remain a reliable partner for food and fuel supplies.

PRESIDENT KIIR ARRIVES IN MOSCOW FOR BILATERAL TALKS

Moscow, September 27th 2023- President Kiir on Wednesday arrived in Moscow ahead of bilateral talks with the Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The two leaders will discuss prospects for the development of relations between Russia and South Sudan in various areas, as well as regional and international issues.

During the meeting the Principals will also discuss lifting of arms embargo and targeted sanctions imposed on individuals in South Sudan.

The President was welcome by Russian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Andrey Rudenko Yurevich and a group of African ambassadors and diplomats in Russia.

This visit aims at deepening diplomatic relations and explore other areas of cooperations on trade, investment opportunities and security.

Rt. Hon. Speaker of Transitional National Legislative Assembly, Jema Nunu Kumba said the bill is an important element in the Revitalized peace agreement for the process of elections to commence.

President Kiir returns to Juba after attending UN General Assembly in New York

JUBA, September 24th 2023- President Kiir has returned back to Juba after participating in the 78th United Nations General Assembly in New York.

In his remarks, Foreign Affairs Minister, Dr. James Pitia Morgan said President Kiir conducted several bilateral meetings with other world leaders in America on global peace and security.

While in America, President Kiir called for lifting of arms embargo, noting that the imposed sanctions are major impediments to the implementation of the peace agreement, as this has derailed the deployment of the necessary unified forces.

On his part, Presidential Affairs Minister Dr. Barnaba Marial Benjamin said South Sudan ministers held sideline meetings with their counterparts in New York, adding that Education Minister secured 50 million US dollars deal for education sector.

This year the 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly was held under the Theme-“Rebuilding Trust and Reigniting Global Solidarity:Accelerating Action on the 2030 Agenda and its Sustainable Development Goals Towards Peace, Prosperity, Progress and the Sustainability For All”–affords an opportunity for member states to take mid-way assessment on the successes and shortfalls towards attaining the Global Goals.

President Kiir reaffirms South Sudan's commitment to world peace, during his address at the 78th UNGA

21 September 2023 (New York)- President Kiir has reaffirmed South Sudan's government commitment to the realization of a sustained peace and stability, while also pursuing common pursuit for world peace.

Kiir was addressing the High-Level meeting of the UN General Assembly in New York.

In his keynote address at the UN General Assembly, Kiir called on the United Nations to lift the arms embargo imposed on South Sudan, saying these actions have impeded proper and timely ex*****on of the security arrangements, as enshrined in the peace agreement.

President Kiir also appealed to the international community to help address the Humanitarian crisis, brought about by the ongoing conflict in Sudan.

The President said his administration is working towards realizing sustainable development goals.

This is Kiir's first address at the UN General Assembly since 2014, and he reiterated South Sudan's march into the general elections in 2024.

PRESIDENT KIIR MEETS UN SECRETARY GENERAL, DISCUSS PEACE IMPLEMENTATION

NEW YORK, September 19th 2023 - President Kiir and the UN General Secretary Antonio Guterres discussed the implementation of the Revitalized Peace Agreement and the 2022 Roadmap.

Th UN Chief reiterated the importance of conducting credible elections in South Sudan in December 2024.

The meeting also discussed the country’s progress in the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals.

The Secretary-General commended South Sudan’s efforts to resolve the conflict in Sudan.

Kiir and Guterres further discussed the impacts of the conflict in the Sudan, on South Sudan, the sustainability of humanitarian assistance and coordinated regional and international endeavours to end the conflict.

نحن، رؤساء أكثر من 50 منظمة حقوقية وإنسانية، نجتمع معًا لدق ناقوس الخطر بشأن السودان ، حيث تتكشف الكارثة أمام أعيننا. ومع استمرار القتال في جميع أنحاء البلاد، وتصاعد العنف الجنسي الوحشي، والهجمات المتعمدة والعشوائية على نطاق واسع على المدنيين، وإسكات الصحفيين والمدافعين عن حقوق الإنسان، لم تعد البلاد على شفا الفظائع الجماعية – بل سقطت على الحافة.

منذ أبريل/نيسان، عندما اندلعت الأعمال العدائية المفتوحة في العاصمة السودانية، أُجبر أكثر من خمسة ملايين شخص على الفرار من منازلهم، وقد يضطر مئات الآلاف الآخرين قريبًا إلى الانضمام إليهم. ويعيش العديد منهم الآن في مخيمات مع محدودية إمكانية الحصول على المساعدة الإنسانية، وفرص تعليمية قليلة لأطفالهم، ولا يوجد أي دعم نفسي اجتماعي تقريبًا لمساعدتهم على التغلب على تجاربهم المؤلمة.

PRESIDENT KIIR DEPARTS TO NEW YORK FOR UN GENERAL ASSEMBLY

Juba, September 17, 2023- President Kiir has traveled to New York, United States of America to participate in the 78th Session of the United Nations General Assembly.

The Summit agenda, “Rebuilding trust and reigniting global solidarity: Accelerating action on the 2030 Agenda and its Sustainable Development Goals towards peace, prosperity, progress and sustainability for all”.

Speaking to reporters Presidential Affairs Minister Dr. Barnaba Marial Benjamin said President Kiir will address the UN General assembly on the status of the implementation of the peace agreement and the steps the country is undertaking to prepare for 2024 general elections.

While in the United States, Kiir will highlight the crisis in Sudan and stress his role on how he will resolve the current crisis in the Sudan.

The President will also discuss regional issues related to the East African Community and the role South Sudan is playing in the region to promote peace and stability.

The President was seen off at Juba International Airport by the First Vice President Dr. Riek Machar Teny and other senior government officials.

PRESIDENT KIIR ENGAGES WITH SUDANESE POLITICAL FORCES AND CIVIL SOCIETY FOR PEACEFUL RECONCILIATION

Juba, September 16, 2023 – President Kiir met with Sudanese political forces and civil society organizations on Saturday to discuss the political situation in Sudan.

In his remarks, National Advisor for Security Affairs, Tut Gatluak Manime said peace in Sudan should be achieved through dialogue and peaceful reconciliation, particularly with the support of the political forces.

The Governor of Darfur region, Minni Arko Minawi said the Sudanese people need long-term goals to find an amicable solution.

President Kiir reiterated his commitment to mediating the conflict in Sudan and renewed his call for warring parties to end the war in Sudan.

PRESIDENT KIIR WILL ASSUME THE EAC CHAIRMANSHIP NEXT YEAR

Juba, September 13, 2023 – President Kiir met with the East African Community (EAC) delegation to discuss East African Community affairs and the status of implementation of the EAC integration program.

Speaking to the press, Secretary General of the East African Community, Secretary General Peter Mutuku Mathuki, said President Kiir will be elected Chair of the East African Community next year, after Burundi.

Mutuku also revealed that many South Sudanese nationals work in the regional bloc, which, he said, will ensure the integration of South Sudanese people into the bloc.

The Undersecretary of East African Community Affairs, Hon. Beny Gideon said the EAC chairmanship will be held by South Sudan at next year's summit.

The East African Community (EAC) is a regional intergovernmental organization consisting of 7 partner countries: Burundi, Democratic Republic of Congo, Kenya, Rwanda, South Sudan, Uganda and Tanzania, of which the headquarters are located in Arusha, Tanzania

رئيس مجلس السيادة القائد العام يتفقد الفرقة ١٢ مشاة بسنكات

سنكات 2-9-2023 (سونا) قام الفريق أول ركن عبد الفتاح البرهان عبد الرحمن رئيس مجلس السيادة الإنتقالي القائد العام للقوات المسلحة بزيارة إلى الفرقة الثانية عشر مشاة بسنكات يرافقه قائد منطقة البحر الاحمر العسكرية.

حيث كان في إستقباله قادة معهدي المشاة وضباط الصف وقائد الفرقة.

وقد خاطب سيادته ضباط وصف وجنود وحدات المنطقة محيياً إياهم علىٰ ما بذلوه خلال معركة الكرامة و موضحا أن القوات المسلحة والشعب متفقون على دحر التمرد.

كما أثنىٰ على الإحترافية العالية لأفراد القوات المسلحة لافتاً إلى ضرورة مضاعفة الجهد من قبل المعاهد العسكرية لضمان زيادتها.

ورحب سيادته باي دعم من الدول الشقيقة والصديقة يصب في تطوير الوطن واعادة الإعمار قاطعاً بعدم قبول أية إملاءات .

وفي ختام زيارته قام القائد العام بإفتتاح عدد ( ١٠ ) وحدات سكنية نفذها سلاح المهندسين بالفرقة.
