‘Tis the season 🎄

One of our favourite holiday traditions is to go to a Santa Claus parade or two. Since I did the research already, I may as well share it so the information is at your fingertips. 🗓

Share this with a fellow mom 📲
Or share it with your hubby and tell him you’re going to all of them 😁

Not sure how to start a conversation with the men in your life? Keep reading ⬇️

Did you know that gives you tips on how to reach out to men who may be struggling? I have shared the link in my bio. 🔗 Learn how to ask, listen, encourage action, and check in. Once you have the tools on “how to”, all you need to do is show up.

Let’s break the stigma around men’s mental health. 💚

You are not a burden 💚

Scrolling through social media after the kids have gone to bed is my guilty pleasure. Most of the things I see are for entertainment, and once in a while I learn something profound. But the other night I came across something on Reddit that broke my heart. An anonymous user wrote about his thoughts of su***de due to depression, but he cannot afford therapy and can’t talk to his wife (he didn’t want to “burden his wife because she is still dealing with her own postpartum issues”). All I wanted was to reach out and help him, but where do you even start when there are millions of him out there, how do you even begin to undo the generations of conditioning that men don’t cry, they are tough.

This is just another outdated thinking that’s dangerous and detrimental in our society. That anonymous user is someone’s husband, someone’s dad, someone's son, someone’s friend. Let’s start the conversation.

How to talk to men about mental health:
1️⃣Observe their mood and behaviour
2️⃣Share your experience
3️⃣Acknowledge difficult situations
4️⃣Ask twice

Just for the record, mom is always right 😌

Parenting is hard, mostly because when situations come up and you’re supposed to just know what to do. 🤷🏻‍♀️ Unless you have every single parenting book memorized 📚, have a PhD in human psychology and childhood development, have a crystal ball 🔮, and know how to cast spells 🪄, there is no way you are ready for all the scenarios parenthood will throw at you. If you have a partner in parenting, things can get even more complicated, because their idea of parenting principles will differ from yours. 🤌🏼

When it comes to your parenting decisions, your kids need to see you as a united front. 🤝🏼 The minute they see that one of you disagrees with the other parent, they will think they’ve found the escape route. 🛟 And instead of hearing what one parent is saying, they are now trying to figure out how to escape the situation with your help. 🆘 This is not helpful, nor conducive to the conversation. For situations where you may disagree but don’t want to undermine the other person, create a safe word, and agree on what you expect to happen once you hear it. 🗣

{I still believe that parents need to have conflicts in front of kids. Show them the healthy way to disagree with someone or even how to argue. More importantly show them how to resolve a conflict, how to apologize and forgive, and model healthy communication. But that’s a topic for another day. 📌}

Our safe word is ‘Gwen Stefani’. If you can guess the reason, drop your guesses below in comments. 😏

What would your safe word be? 💡

Catch flights, not feelings 🛫

After a long 2 years, it seems everyone is jumping on a plane to their next adventure and we’re no different. 🗺 We are planning a trip in the Fall, so we gotta get the boring stuff out of the way first: PASSPORTS. All of our kids needed a passport either renewed or for the very first time. The first step was getting their passport photos taken. 📸 I knew this may be a challenge for the little one, but as it turns out, it was actually a very smooth process and all of our photos were accepted. ☑️ Here, I am sharing the tips that have helped me when my baby got her passport photo taken. After that we just needed to spend a whole day waiting at the passport office to submit our applications, but that’s a story for another day. 🥴

With the boring stuff out of the way, now we can focus on planning the actual trip. 🤩 It’s been a very long time since we’ve travelled, and I cannot wait to hear “this is your captain speaking”. 👨🏻‍✈️ (do they still say this? It’s been so long 🥹)

Where is your next adventure taking you? 📍
