I recently got engaged, and we decided to elope just a few weeks later! With little time to shop, I needed a beautiful but budget-friendly wedding dress fast. Here are three brands I found that offer gorgeous styles without the high price tag:

The Odd Muse: They have stunning, timeless bridal dresses with a hint of vintage flair, all at an affordable price. Their styles are elegant and sophisticated, making it my top pick!

House of CB: You can shop directly in their bridal section or browse through dresses in white for some unique, non-traditional options—perfect if you’re keeping things simple or eloping.

Meshki: Their wedding section has many beautiful, affordable options. Though I haven’t tried their quality yet, the designs are stylish and worth a look!

If you’re planning a wedding and want to save on the dress, these brands offer beautiful options without breaking the bank! 👗💖

As a fashion designer about to get married in just a few weeks, I decided to make my own wedding dress! Here’s how I sketched out my ideal gown, drawing from my favorite inspiration.🌸

For the top, I chose a structured, fitted bodice with a V or square neckline—clean and flattering, with a defined waistline that gives a nice silhouette. I want the skirt to be form-fitting at the waist but flowy all the way down for an elegant, easy look.🤍

For sleeves, I love the idea of a poofy, sheer bishop sleeve to add some soft, romantic contrast against the more structured bodice. And for the back, I’m planning on an open, minimal look, maybe with a small bow or a belt detail for a sweet finishing touch. I’m even considering a slight train for some added drama!

Now that the sketch is complete, I couldn’t be happier with the design and can’t wait to bring this vision to life. Here’s to hoping the final dress turns out just like this! 👗✨

🌸 Here’s part two of why the skirt trend is thriving in summer 2024! 🌸

✨ First, fashion loves to recycle trends. We’re seeing a revival of the minimalistic and clean styles from the 90s and early 2000s, with simple lines and elastic waistbands making a comeback.

✨ Second, the influence of Scandinavian fashion is undeniable. The clean aesthetic and emphasis on simplicity, functionality, and natural materials are reflected in these skirts, resonating with the popular “Scandi” style.

✨ Third, the “work from home” culture has shaped our fashion needs. These midi skirts strike the perfect balance between comfort and chic, making them ideal for business meetings and conference calls from home.

If you want to see how I make one of these skirts from scratch, follow along, like, and subscribe. Can’t wait to get to work with you in the next video! ✂️👗💕

🌸 If you haven't been living under a rock this summer, you've probably noticed the trend of beautiful skirts all over social media and Pinterest! 🌸

✨ These skirts are a perfect blend of practicality and style. Born from the post-pandemic shift towards comfort, they feature comfy waistbands, flattering midi lengths, and breathable linen fabric - ideal for summer heat!

💖 Plus, their timeless, effortless look fits right into the ongoing minimalistic and natural fashion trends. And that cute, slightly wrinkled texture? It adds a relaxed and chic vibe we all love!

🌱 What’s even more exciting is the DIY potential! Many are recreating these skirts at home, embracing sustainability and steering away from fast fashion. Join me as I dive into making these skirts in upcoming videos and a longer YouTube tutorial!

If you’re as excited as I am, follow along, like, and subscribe. Let’s make some beautiful skirts together! ✂️👗 See you in the next video! Bye! 💕

Let’s find the perfect fabric for your first project together! 🌸

1. Start with Cotton 🌼

Cotton is like a warm hug for beginners.
It’s simple, reliable, and comes in the cutest patterns and colors.
Trust me, you’ll love how easy it is to work with cotton. 🧵💕

2. Check the Stretch 🌟

A little bit of stretch is like a sprinkle of magic—it helps hide tiny mistakes.
But too much stretch can be tricky, like a wiggly worm. 🪱
Stick to fabrics that have a gentle stretch and avoid super stretchy ones for now. You’ve got this! 🌈

3. Consider the Weight 🍃

Lightweight fabrics are lovely, but too light can be slippery like a little fish. 🐟 Heavyweight fabrics, like denim, can be tough cookies.
Choose something in the middle, and you’ll find your sweet spot. 🌸

Hi there, sewing newbie! 🌸 Are you finding yourself making mistakes and ripping up seams? Don’t worry! Here are three sweet tips to keep you calm and happy. 🌼

Hi, I’m Anya! 🧵

With a degree in fashion and textile design and ten years of sewing under my belt, I’m here to sprinkle a little magic on your sewing journey.

1. Meet Your New Best Friend: The Seam Ripper

It might seem scary, but trust me, the seam ripper is a hero in disguise! 🌟 Even the best of us spend a lot of time with it. Think of it as part of the adventure, not a setback.

2. Love Your Fabric: Hand Stitch First

To avoid too much seam ripping, try pinning your fabrics and giving them a gentle hand stitch first. This way, you’ll catch any oopsies before they become big problems, saving you time and stress! 💖

3. Be Gentle with Yourself and Your Seams

If you need to rip a seam, do it with love and patience. Rushing or getting frustrated can damage your beautiful fabric. Take a deep breath, step back, and return with a calm heart. Your fabric (and sanity) will thank you! 🌷

20/07/2024

🌸Hi there🌸, sewing newbie! Here are three sweet and simple hacks to make your sewing journey super easy:

1. Use Metal Pins Instead of Plastic Clippers 🌸
Metal pins are your best friends! They make everything more accurate and cause fewer problems. Plastic clippers might look easy, but they just don't compare to the trusty metal pins.

2. Mark Your Seam Allowance🪡
Always mark your seam allowance when cutting fabric. This little step keeps your seams consistent and your pieces fitting perfectly. Just grab a measuring tape and make those marks!

3. When in Doubt, Stitch It Out🎀
If you're unsure about a stitch, hand stitch it first. This lets you see how it looks before committing with the sewing machine. It’s a small step that makes a big difference and saves you from mistakes.

To help you even more, I’ve prepared a free sewing bundle just for beginners! It includes:

1️⃣A mini course
2️⃣20 tips and tricks
3️⃣A stitch starter guide for beautiful seams, even if it’s your first time
Check out the links for these goodies.

Happy sewing! 💖🧵

18/07/2024

Hey there, lovely sewing newbies! 🌟 Just starting your sewing adventure? Here are five common mistakes beginners make and tips to avoid them:

Using the Wrong Needle
Different fabrics need different needles. Thicker needles for thick fabrics and thinner ones for delicate fabrics. Makes sense, right? 😊

Ignoring Machine Tension
If your tension isn’t right, your stitches won’t be pretty, and your project might fall apart. Always check and adjust the tension on your sewing machine for smooth, beautiful stitches.

Skipping Practice
Practice is key! I still practice after ten years. Grab some scrap fabric and have fun practicing. It’ll make your sewing journey easier and more enjoyable. 🧵

Choosing the Wrong Fabric
Pick the right fabric for your project and skill level. If you’re just starting out, go for 100% cotton. It’s easy to work with and comes in so many cute colors and patterns! 🌸

Rushing the Process
Take your time and enjoy the journey. Sewing isn’t a race; it’s about the joy of creating something special. Be patient and savor every stitch. 💖

5 Things I Wish I Knew Before I Started Sewing 🌸✂️

🌼 Start Simple 🌼
There’s no need to rush! Begin with a fun and easy project to dip your toes into the sewing world. My first project was a sweet little bag, and it made learning so delightful. Pick something that will keep you motivated and excited rather than something too tricky that might make you feel overwhelmed.

🧵 Invest in Good Tools 🧵
Good tools are your best friends in sewing. They make everything smoother and more enjoyable. High-quality tools are reliable, help you avoid problems, and make sewing so much more fun!

🐾 Practice Regularly 🐾
Consistency is key to getting better. Regular practice, even just a little bit each day, helps keep your skills sharp and your memory fresh. When you finally start a bigger project, it will feel so much easier and you’ll make fewer mistakes.

🌸 Learn from Your Mistakes 🌸
Don’t let mistakes get you down. Every little oopsie is a chance to learn something new. Embrace your mistakes and use them as stepping stones to become an even better sewist.

Hi and welcome to part 4 of making my dream pants. 🎀👖

I can't believe it's already day 4! My pants are finally starting to look like actual pants, and I'm so excited. Let's see how it goes today.

Step 1: Since yesterday I left off with ironing, today I focused on overclocking to protect all the seam allowances. I did this for the sides and the inside seam. 🧵

Step 2: Once that was done, the pants were ready to be combined. I sewed the seam through the middle, and now I had actual pants to put on! The final step was to iron that last seam.📌

Uh-Oh Moment! 😅
But then, disaster struck—the pants wouldn't go past my thighs! I realized I hadn't considered how to actually put the pants on. I was planning to use an elastic band but didn't adjust the pattern for it.😅

Step 3: Now, I had to adapt. Instead of starting the bows lower on the hip, I moved them up to the waist, making the pants a bit more revealing. I'll figure out how to keep them from looking too trashy later. ✂️

Step 4: I had to rip the seams from the sides to fix this issue. Hopefully, this will help me continue the project without more problems. 🚨

See you in part 5, where I'll hopefully figure this situation out! ✨👖

02/06/2024

Hello and welcome to part two of Making My Dream Pants! 👖🌸

Today, I made so much progress. Let me show you what I did:

Step 1: First, I made a copy of yesterday's pattern. This way, I don't have to cut the original 🌸

Step 2: I added check points and marked where the bows will go. Then, I cut the pattern pieces into two parts, making sure everything matches front and back.

Step 3: I folded the fabric in half, making sure the back was inside and the face was outside. Then, I placed the pattern pieces on the fabric with enough seam allowance and pinned them down.

Step 4: Quick coffee break! Loving the progress so far.☕️

Step 5: I drew the outlines of the pattern on the fabric with charcoal and carefully cut them out, ensuring the seam allowance was perfect.✏️✂️

And here’s the result: two layers of each pattern piece with beautiful seam lines. Day two was a success!

Follow for part three to see what happens next! ✨👖

🌸 Essential Tools for Beginner Sewists 🌸

Hey there, future sewing star! ✨ Just starting your sewing journey and wondering what tools you need? Here are the must-haves to get you stitching like a pro:

📌 Pins: You’ll need pins to hold your fabric pieces together before sewing.

📏 Measuring Tape: A soft measuring tape is essential for perfect measurements.🎀

🔺 Geo Triangle: This handy tool helps you draw perfect lines and angles. It’s more precise than a regular ruler. 💎

🧵 Seam Ripper: Every beginner needs a seam ripper for those oops moments. It’s okay to make mistakes—this little guy is here to save the day! Trust me, you’ll be using it more than you think, and that’s totally okay! 🌟

🌸 Welcome to my new series, "SEWING VOCABULARY FOR BEGINNERS." - Part 2 🌸 If you're just starting your sewing journey, this one's for you ✂️✨

Today, we're diving into some essential terms you'll encounter when working with patterns:

1️⃣ Pattern: This is your template for cutting out fabric pieces. Think of it as a blueprint for your sewing project. Patterns come in various shapes and sizes, guiding you on where to cut, sew, and assemble.

2️⃣ Notches: These are small marks or cuts on the edge of your pattern pieces. They help align fabric pieces accurately. Make sure to cut them carefully to ensure everything matches up perfectly.

3️⃣ Bias: This is the diagonal direction of the fabric. Cutting on the bias gives your fabric extra stretch and drape. It's perfect for creating flowing dresses or garments that need a bit of give.

4️⃣ Dart: Darts are folds sewn into fabric to give it shape, like around the bust or waist. They help the fabric contour to your body's curves, giving your garment a tailored fit.

Stay tuned for more sewing terms and tips! 🌟 Got any questions? Drop them in the comments below! 💬 Or check out my beginner friendly sewing course -link https://gratusstudio.com/sales

Hey everyone! A bit of a different post today 🌸 I know you probably don’t know me, since I am just starting this journey, so here are 5 facts about me:

1️⃣ I’m all about simplicity when it comes to fabrics. Cotton and linen are my absolute favorites – they’re comfy and perfect for so many projects.✨🪡

2️⃣ I have to admit, my most-used sewing tool is the seam ripper. We’ve all been there, right? ✂️

3️⃣ I’m on a mission to change my whole wardrobe to handmade clothing that I design and make myself, instead of buying fast fashion products.🎀

4️⃣ I used to hate sewing, but now I love it! It’s a surprising change that I’m still amazed by. 😅

5️⃣ I buy Vogue magazine almost every month, so I have a pretty big collection, that keeps me inspired✨

Hope you enjoyed getting to know me a little better!

Hey fellow stitchers! 🧵🌸 Looking to level up your sewing game? 🪡 Here are three tips to get the most out of your sewing machine:

1️⃣ Keep it clean and well-maintained: Regularly clean your machine to prevent dust and lint buildup, which can affect its performance. Don't forget to oil the moving parts as recommended by the manufacturer to keep everything running smoothly.🔥

2️⃣ Experiment with different stitches: Your sewing machine is capable of more than just straight stitches! Take some time to explore the different stitch options available, from zigzag to decorative stitches. Experimenting with stitch settings can add unique touches to your projects and expand your creative possibilities.🌟🧵

3️⃣ Practice, practice, practice: Like any skill, sewing takes practice to master. Take the time to practice sewing on scrap fabric before starting a new project, especially if you're trying out a new technique or stitch. This will help you get comfortable with your machine and improve your sewing skills over time. 🪡✂️

Guess what? Tomorrow morning, I'm off to Barcelona, but there's one tiny problem – I don't have a cute bag to match my outfits! So, I thought, why not make one real quick? 🎒💭

First things first, I gathered some inspiration and sketched out my design. Then, it was time to draw up the pattern for the bag. ✏️✂️ Here's a peek at all the pattern pieces!

Next up, I pinned the pieces to my fabric and got to cutting. And then repeated the process for the lining.

After that, it was onto the quilting material. I cut out the pieces and sewed them together to create that perfect quilted look. ✨

And finally, after a few (okay, more than a few) sewing mishaps and some messy moments, I finished just in time to catch my flight to Barcelona! 🇪🇸✈️

I hope you enjoyed this little sneak peek into my bag-making adventure! If you want to see more content like this, be sure to give me a follow and a like. Stay tuned for more sewing and design fun! 🧵🎨
