Hi Guys,

Hope you're all well and safe.

Just wanted to do a quick post about something very important but not quite talked about as often as it should.

It's about ADA Compliance.

Did you know that one of the legal requirements that a website in the US should meet is that it has to be ADA Compliant?

This simply means that every single page has to be accessible to persons with disabilities.

Thankfully, Shopify has been proactive about this. You can read more about their policy on that here:

But we're not out of the woods just yet.

A lot of things still have to be considered as you build your clients' stores.

One of which is the overall design which may include color selections as well as font styles and sizes.

Two words. Contrast Ratio.

Wikipedia acceptably defines Contrast Ratio as "a property of a display system, defined as the ratio of the luminance of the brightest color (white) to that of the darkest color (black) that the system is capable of producing. A high contrast ratio is a desired aspect of any display".

Just be mindful when choosing the background colors and images that you match with the text styles. Always make sure everything is clear and readable. That's just it.
