Custom orders are open!

Do you have an idea for a design that you'd like to see come to life? Or would you like a replica of a favourite dress? Perhaps you are frustrated how poorly off the rack clothing fits? I can help!

I'm taking on a limited amount of custom orders each month. How does it work? Message me with your design ideas. I will give you a quote based on fabric cost+time to make the garment. I require 50% up front and then 50% upon garment completion. It takes 2-4 weeks, depending on how busy I am. I ship worldwide from Canada.

Each custom pattern is bespoke to your measurements. I have over 30 years of sewing experience and each garment is made with care and love ❤

On a whim in March I posted on FB that I was taking on some custom sewing. That post garnered so much interest that I started up a IG account to promote my sewing. Over the course of 2022 I've met so many lovely people that have supported my little business. Thank you so much!! 🥰
About midway through 2022 I started hearing about how small businesses were being impacted by inflation. Sales were down across the board. People are struggling to put food on the table and to pay their bills. Extras, like pretty clothes, are way down on the priority list. This is fully understandable. We are all adjusting to the financial strain.

Because of this I am feeling the pull to start posting again on YouTube. I really want to encourage and equip people during this time. DIY's and allergy friendly cooking on a budget are my jam! I have already started recording (new video tomorrow!) and I hope to release a new video once or twice a week.

My time will be split between a select amount of custom orders each month and recording YT videos (and my family, of course!). I will fire up custom orders in a couple of weeks. Please message me if you have a design in mind. I'd love to work with you:)

I love the vision that this customer had for her dress! Puffy sleeves, but not too puffy, and a subtle princess waist.

The dress features a gathered skirt flounce, pockets, and a hand stitched linen bodice lining.

The fabric is a beautiful soft cotton from . The pinks are reading brighter than the true colour.

I like this dress so much that I may offer it as a design for my store. What do you think? I know I want one! 😁

Do you have a bucket list of activities that you want to do with your family before Christmas? I want you to take that list and cross off 2/3 of it. Why? Your kids won't remember that you didn't decorate gingerbread houses every year. They won't care that they didn't get a photo with Santa. What will they remember? You! Give yourself the gift of doing less and give your kids the gift of your presence. ❤❤❤

I thought I'd start posting some of my daily outfits. Most of my wardrobe is me-made and thrifted, with a small smattering of new. Today I'm wearing:
Philippa blouse in truffle.

Wool cardi (thrifted)
Camper Mary Jane shoes (Poshmark)
Excuse the prominent T.V. I'm tempted to toss a sheet over it so it's not so glaringly in the background 😂.

Good morning friends! I'm playing with the idea of a "build a dress" concept. Here's how it would work:
The basic dress (knee length, short sleeve) is a set price. Now you get to customize!
-Choose solid or print linen (check or stripe).
-Choose a longer or shorter length.
-Choose from long sleeves or 3/4 length gathered into a band (photo #2)
-Option of a faux button placket (photo #2).
-Choose a higher or lower scoop neck.
After making all of your custom decisions you will get your dress total.
I think this concept will give you the ability to order your perfect linen dress!

Happy Monday! It's been 2 weeks since I got sick and I'm finally starting to feel like myself again. I'm back to sewing and I've also started a couple of knitting projects. It seems like every time the kids see me knitting and ask what I'm knitting the answer is most often "a hat". What can I say? They are my favourite thing to knit! Just a couple of days work and you have yourself a wearable item 😁. Are you a knitter? What's your favourite thing to make?

The Emma Overalls are here! The overalls feature a front bib pocket with ruffle, front patch pockets, and adjustable ties. The fit is loose through the waist and hips and the legs taper at the ankle. Choose from four different linen colours. I'm wearing Jasper and Cottage Blue!

Happy Friday! What are you up to this weekend? I'm taking the hour trip to town with a couple of my girls and their friends. We are going to hit the thrift stores (of course) and Winners. I hope to start on some birthday and Christmas shopping. 3 of our girls have birthday's right around Christmas and it's always a challenge coming up with gift ideas for them all!
My 18 year old and her friend want to go to Sephora. I'm going to be a total fish out of water 🤣. I literally have no clue what's going on in the world of makeup. It will be fun to watch them shop though. Ah, to be 18 again with disposable income!

Colour updates! I've added the colour Truffle for all of my neutral lovers! Copper is another new colour and it's available for the Philippa blouse and dress.

I'm not quite ready to pack away my summer stuff so I thought I'd see if I could make some pieces work for fall! I've paired this thrifted summer skirt with my Philippa blouse and black tights. I added a thrifted moto jacket and thrifted boots. Yup...most of my wardrobe is thrifted 🤪.

The Philippa Dress is named after our 4th girl (5th child). She most often goes by Pippa, but I have been known to call her Pipsqueak or Pipster lol. Did you name your kids something that could be shortened? I've never had a nickname! Not much you can do with Miranda 🤣

In July I made my daughter a couple of big bows for her birthday. I had a really positive response about them from many of you, so I thought I'd list them in the shop!
The bows come in multiple linen and floral colours. Order one on it's own or order one to match your garment. The bows are made to order but I do have a few ready to ship that I'll be listing soon:)

When I was thinking about designing a blouse I really wanted to create something that offered a lot of versatility. I think I achieved it with the Philippa blouse!
The blouse features a split hem that is slightly longer in the back. This means you can wear it 3 ways: fully tucked in, front tuck (a personal fave), and untucked.
It's sister design is the Philippa dress. Both have the same square yoke and puffed sleeves. The sleeves are elasticated because it drives me crazy when I push sleeves up and they fall down lol. I'm constantly pushing sleeves up for dishes etc. I can't stand a wet sleeve!

I'm going to be wearing the Sophie skirt on repeat this fall and winter!
It's a gathered skirt with pintucks, a scalloped hem and it can double as a petticote. I'm offering it in chocolate, black, and cream linen.
I'm wearing it here teamed with the Philippa blouse in cream, but I also love it with a cozy oversized sweater 😍
p.s when editing these photos I had to laugh at myself because I feel like I'm giving off bored barmaid vibes 🤣.

Time for a reintroduction!
Sewing has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. My mum was a talented seamstress and I was lucky enough to have her show me the ropes at a young age. My first formal lessons were at age 13. This led to me sewing my own clothing from vintage patterns during my teen years.
When our first born child was a toddler I went back to school for fashion design. I designed my own clothing line, but ultimately decided that I wanted to be at home full time with our daughter. During my years of birthing five more children and homeschooling them, I pursued several small businesses creating handcrafted goods. I also drafted patterns for other people's businesses.
As our children grew up I found that I had time to do custom sewing. This led to a desire to create my own line again. Many of the designs are named after our five daughters!
Each item is individually cut and sewn in my studio here on our homestead in northern Ontario.
I'm wearing the Sophie Skirt in black linen:)
