Thoughts on the Texas Electricity Market Reform Plan?

Keynotes-

*The controversial idea would require electricity providers to pay additional money to generators that promise to be available when grid conditions get tight

*Some are Concerned this plan is just putting a band-aid over a MUCH more significant problem, the Outdated Texas Grid

*The performance credit mechanism that the PUC approved in January will allow Utilities to purchase extra energy credits and Sell those credits to Homeowners for profit when the Grid cant provide enough Power

Unfortunately, this is only the beginning but we are here to Help.

The idea, which still lacks some important details and could be changed by state lawmakers, would change how electricity is paid for in tight times. We explain it for everyday Texans.

Did your family have Power when this happened?

Keynotes-

*During the storm, PUC directed the grid operator to set wholesale power prices at $9,000 per megawatt hour — the maximum price

*Brazos Electric Power Cooperative Inc., Texas’ largest power cooperative, has already filed for bankruptcy protection after incurring $2.1 billion in combined charges owed to ERCOT

*"The ERCOT market was not designed to deal with an emergency of this scale & has pushed the entire market to the brink of collapse.” - Patrick Woodson, CEO of ATG Clean Energy Holdings, stated to the Public Utility Commission

Texans have Solutions, The Rate-Lock Program is one of them.

An independent market monitor for the Public Utility Commission of Texas wrote in a letter that the power grid operator kept market prices too high for nearly two days after widespread outages ended.

Thoughts?

Keynotes:

* Peak Demand in ONE day reached 83,000 MegaWatts, 3% higher than last year's record high

*ERCOT averaged over $4,000 per megawatt hour in real-time trading, nearly 100 times what prices were the previous week

*Energy customers paid nearly $1.7 billion in a day

This is why the Rate-Lock Program was created.
