PAGSUSURI NG BAGUIO CITY SMOKE-FREE TASK FORCE SA MGA ITINALAGANG SMOKING AREA

Isinagawa ng Baguio City Smoke-Free Task Force ang pagsusuri sa mga iminungkahing itinalagang smoking area (DSA) sa dalawang lokal na negosyo upang matiyak na sumusunod ito sa mga regulasyon ng lungsod.

Ang pagsusuring ito ay alinsunod sa City Ordinance No. 34, series of 2017, na kilala rin bilang Smoke-Free Baguio Ordinance. Mahigpit na ipinagbabawal ng ordinansang ito ang paggamit, pagbebenta, pamamahagi, at pag-aanunsyo ng mga sigarilyo, e-cigarette, at iba pang produktong tabako sa mga itinalagang lugar sa buong lungsod at nagpapataw ng parusa sa mga lalabag.

PRESIDENT MARCOS DECLARES AUGUST 23, 2024, AS SPECIAL NON-WORKING HOLIDAY

President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr. signed Proclamation No. 665 , amending the previously issued Proclamation No. 368 that declared the regular holidays and special non-working days for 2024.

In the new proclamation, President Marcos officially moved the celebration of Ninoy Aquino Day from its usual date of August 21 to August 23, 2024. The change is intended to promote domestic tourism by allowing for a longer weekend. The historical significance of Ninoy Aquino Day, commemorating the life and sacrifice of Senator Benigno "Ninoy" Aquino Jr., remains unchanged.

The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) has been instructed to issue the appropriate circular to guide the private sector in implementing this proclamation.

This adjustment will provide Filipinos an extended weekend from August 23 to 25, 2024.

SUNOG SA BRGY. ANDRES BONIFACIO, NAAPULA NG MGA BUMBERO

Nirespondehan ng mga bumbero sa Baguio ang isang sunog na sumiklab sa isang imbakan ng isang bahay sa Barangay Andres Bonifacio bandang alas-4 ng madaling araw kanina.

Ayon kay Chief Operations SFO4 Tado Pakilo, kontrolado na ang sunog at kasalukuyang nagsasagawa ng mop-up ang mga bumbero at mga boluntaryo upang mabawasan ang natitirang usok.

SUNOG SA PACDAL: ISANG BAHAY NASUNOG, ISANG CASUALTY

Isang sunog ang tumupok sa apat na palapag na bahay sa Simsim Compound, Tiptop, Barangay Pacdal noong Hulyo 12, 2024, na nagresulta sa pagkapinsala ng tatlong pamilya. Isang kaswalti ang naiulat.

Ayon kay Baguio City Fire Station Fire Marshal FSupt Marisol Hernandez Odiver, nagsimula ang sunog bandang 8:40 ng gabi at idineklarang fireout noong 10:43 ng gabi.

Ang Pamahalaang Lungsod ng Baguio, sa pamamagitan ng City Social Welfare and Development Office na pinamumunuan ni Liza Daisa Bulayungan, ay nagbigay ng tulong sa mga pamilyang naapektuhan ng insidente. Sa kasalukuyan, sila ay pansamantalang nakatira sa transient house ng kanilang mga kamag-anak.

Ang mga pamilya ay sasailalim pa sa karagdagang psycho-social processing at irerefer sa DSWD-CAR at iba pang ahensya para sa karagdagang suporta.

LTFRB AT LUNGSOD NG BAGUIO, LUMAGDA NG KASUNDUAN PARA SA SISTEMA NG INTERKONEKTIBIDAD SA TRAPIKO

Ang Land Transportation Office (LTO) at lokal na pamahalaan ng Baguio City ay lumagda ng Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) upang ipatupad ang LTO-LGU Baguio Interconnectivity System, isang proyektong naglalayong pagbutihin ang pamamahala sa trapiko at pagpapatupad ng batas sa transportasyon sa pamamagitan ng teknolohiya. Pinangunahan nina LTO Chief Atty. Vigor D. Mendoza II at Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Magalong ang paglagda, kasama ang iba pang mga opisyal.

Ayon kay Atty. Mendoza, ang proyekto ay magbibigay ng malaking tulong sa pagpapabuti ng traffic management at law enforcement. Si Mayor Magalong naman ay binigyang-diin ang layunin ng sistema na maging matatag, matibay, at mabisa ang transportasyon sa lungsod, at bawasan ang carbon emissions.

Ang MOA signing ay itinuturing na isang mahalagang hakbang sa pagpapalaganap ng kaligtasan sa kalsada at pagpapabuti ng transportasyon sa Baguio City.

BAGUIO CITY, IPINAG-UTOS SA MGA BARANGAY ANG PAGSUNOD SA SISTEMA NG PAGBABADYET

Ipinag-utos ng mga opisyal ng Baguio City sa 128 barangay na gamitin at sundin ang bagong sistema ng pagbadyet simula 2025.

Layunin ng Resolusyon Blg. 391, serye ng 2024, na pahusayin ang katumpakan, kahusayan, at pagiging transparent ng paghahanda ng badyet sa pamamagitan ng teknolohiya. Nagsagawa ng mga workshop upang sanayin ang mga opisyal ng barangay at Sangguniang Kabataan sa sistemang ito.

Pinangunahan ito ni City Budget Officer Leticia O. Clemente upang mapabuti ang pamamahala sa pananalapi at masigurong naaprubahan sa tamang oras ang badyet ng lungsod.

Bridal Veil Falls is located in Twin Peaks, Tuba Benguet, and one of the four waterfalls that is situated along the Kennon Road.

The falls resembles a veil of a woman who is going to marry. From a bird’s eye view, it really looks like that of a long, flowing veil from a firm rock wall. The water pours down from a towering height before it crashes into a shady catch basin enclosed by boulders.

PUBLIC WARNED AGAINST THE MAGALONG SCAM

The Office of the City Mayor alerted anew establishments in the city over the resurgence of the “Magalong scammers" which uses the name of Mayor Benjamin Magalong to order pricey food and drinks and obtain cell phone prepaid load.

The office received yet another set of complaints from business owners mostly restaurants in the city using the same modus of posing as the mayor calling the establishments ordering food, liquor, supplies and asking for cell phone load.

The City Mayor's Office reiterated that the mayor does not engage in the practice of personally calling to order food, reserve venues or asking for a load from any establishment.

“Please verify first with the City Mayor’s Office through tel. no. 442-3939 before accepting the order,” it was advised.
