Taking 2nd in the Central Division SCCA’s SMT class, is Nick Lo Galbo.

Another example of finding speed through the sim first. I’ve had the pleasure of always being beaten by him. But never arrogant, he’s always eager to learn from others, and even more eager to try to offer advice when he can too.

Fingers crossed as Nick is looking to acquire his car and it’ll be great to see what he can do with the same machinery each race weekend.

Moving onto the Central Division SCCA's SMT category's 2024 champion Bruce Allen!

You can often see Spec Miata drivers filtering into ITA, ITB, STL, SMT, etc. It allows for newer drivers to get more track time in half the race weeks, or for drivers just looking for more fun to get more races in.

Camden Risch takes 2nd in the SCCA Central Divisional SMX series.

A driver I haven't had the time to get to really know. But in my short interaction with him, he's been fun to chat with and joke around with. However, the online interactions of relentlessly trolling fellow driver Mooney with purchasing us an LMP car to drive, make him alright in my book.

Looking forward to seeing how Camden improves out on track, and getting to chat with him some more.

Moving on towards the SCCA’s Central Division’s Spec MX-5 champion, congratulations to Michael Borden. Despite a later start to his racing career, Borden was already on Gran Turismo and iRacing when most of the racing world didn’t take sim racing as seriously. But his results speak for themselves as he’s proven to be a dominant driver in the SMX series.

A gentleman driver, not in the sense of a paid driver. But in essence a true gentleman on and off the grid. Always greeting people with a smile, always willing to exchange tips on the track. But at the same time, he is a fierce but fair competitor. Happy to be able to congratulate Advanced Autosports driver Bruce Allen.

I also owe him a video a still for giving him a set of takeoffs, so expect a fun 2025 video with him.

Maybe a cool shirt is being designed to make up for the trouble too.

Congrats to Samantha Silver. It was amazing to have her and Kyle officially return to a full season of racing Spec Miata.

Samantha like everyone else is why the community is so great. I can attest to that personally as she's given advice to all the new races and truly exemplifies her motto of "If racing is to survive, we need everyone". Something she truly means, and will fight for.

At the Blackhawk Majors, she suffered a blown engine and dealt with the gremlins of developing a new car. We saw Sam back on the podium at the Brainerd International Raceway, where she set the SM lap record. Unfortunately, she suffered more setbacks at being collected in a large crash at Road America at the June Sprints. If her outright speed isn't one of the best accolades, it would be her positivity and being a proper ambassador to the community.

Non-SCCA and SM-related, she would later win day 1 of the Landjager Cup at Road America with Kyle, friends, and her father. I hope this puts a nice bookend to the 2024 season for her.
Looking forward to seeing Samantha out there in and seeing what 2025 brings!

Continuing the 2024 SCCA Central Division wrap-up is another Advanced Autosports driver Matteo Azari as he clinched 3rd place for the season. One of the younger drivers on the grid, but an extremely mature and easygoing person. That doesn’t mean he is a push over either. He is another driver who is more than willing to share track notes and advice, which makes the spec miata community just so amazing.

I am very excited to see what Matteo does in 2025, and hear exciting things are coming.

The Whelen Mazda MX-5 Cup series always provides some of the best action on track even more so at Daytona. The first day kicked off with all the cars starting on the wets as mandated by race control, seeing ' Nathan Nicholson finishing P14th. The pace is there as he was running P3 at one point too.

The second day was more eventful with the field of roughly 17 cars being taken out at the start of the race. Thankfully there were no major injuries and the safety crews were able to clear up the track for a sprint shootout. The #56 car of Nicholson started from the back of the field and had to weave his way through the carnage. Later he would climb his way up to secure P4.

A lot of promise is being shown with Advanced Autosport's #56 and I can't wait to see the Whelen Mazda MX-5 Cup series to return with Indycar on the streets of St. Petersburg.

Congrats to Nathan Nicholson and the Advanced Autosports team for setting the Whelen Mazda MX-5 Cup fastest practice 2 times at Daytona. Excited to see the team undertake their very first full schedule.
