We all have heard how the government is supposed to work by now. The Legislative branch creates laws, the Executive branch enforces those laws, the Judicial branch strikes down any unconstitutional laws, and each entity serves as a check for the others. Lately, however, our system of governance has been analogous with something more akin to this: the President or a Governor declares an Executive Order when he wishes to do something, or he might appoint some judges to carry out his bidding; the Legislature pontificates garishly at people whom they identify as abhorrent, post some ireful tweets, and sporadically they pass a few trillion dollars in spending for supposed infrastructure, but we all know where that money is going — directly to their pockets, the Judicial branch disregards everyone, strikes down whatever they please, and they can write whatever laws they want; but none of that matters because a federal agency will put forth a new recommendation or regulation that takes precedence over all the other statutes. According to the Flesch reading score the last sentence is “impossible to comprehend,” and trying to understand the swamp is exactly the same.
