I remembered like it was yesterday, as a parent for the visiting BHS Bulldogs at ERHS watching Jazz’s basketball game. Coincidentally I ran into our former neighbor Mr. Tucker and I had explained to him the condition my Father was in and respectfully he sent his condolences and support. Approximately 7:48pm midway thru the 3rd quarter I get phone call, it was My Mom, knowingly that it was time. Mom had voiced in these exact words, “He’s gone, Toussaint, he’s gone with the lord”. A part of me stood strong in relief because all the suffering I witnessed him go through, I wanted him to be at peace. Wholeheartedly, I also felt missing and rightfully so. I shared unfortunate news with Diana, but fortunately He had already went horseback riding and put basketball shots up after that bragging to everyone in heaven about how special his family was and still is. He also voiced with his fellow angel mates in huge sports debate, he wasn’t better than Roger Brown, and or Oscar Robertson. Case closed. I knew my father was at joy and relieved. That was enough for me. I told Dad, fly free CHAMP.
