So what is SAMRO?
SAMRO stands for Southern African Music Right Organisation, is a copyright asset management society. It was established by South African copyright Act, and aims to protect the intellectual property of music creator by licensing music users, collecting licence fees and distributing royalties to music creators.
Here is the brief description of the history of SAMRO:
SAMRO was Founded by Charles Segal, it was founded on 1961 and SAMBRO's type of business is a Non-Profit organization. It is a PRO that collects royalties across Africa.
What are the benefits of registering with SAMRO:
You as the artist get to have your music protected all over the continent of Africa and have access over your copyright. In addition to the royalty income that SAMRO pays to its composers from the use of their music by lincesed users, SAMRO provides its composers with a retirement annuity fund and has done so since 1969
So how does SAMRO pay artists:
SAMRO pays your royalties directly into your account via Electronic Funds Transfers (EFT). Please double check that your bank details are correct to avoid ploblems with payments.
