Former Governor of Plateau State, Sen. Jonah Jang, who has been standing trial for alleged N6.3 billion fraud in the past four years, was yesterday discharged and acquitted of all the 17 counts against him.

The Presiding Judge, Justice Christy Dabup of the Plateau State High Court, said that Jang’s accusers could not convincingly prove any of the charges beyond a reasonable doubt.

The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) may have bowed to pressure from families of victims of the March 28 attack on the Abuja-Kaduna train as the corporation has shifted the resumption of service.

The NRC had earlier fixed Monday, May 23 for the resumption of the train service but the relatives of the victims opposed the move, saying it was insensitive to resume operation on the route when their loved ones are still languishing in captivity.

A former lawmaker who represented Cross River South Senatorial District, Bassey Otu, has won the All Progressives Congress governorship primary by a landslide in Cross River State.

FEMALE referees have been selected to officiate at a men’s World Cup finals for the first time.

Stephanie Frappart of France, Salima Mukansanga from Rwanda and Yoshimi Yamash*ta from Japan have been included on Fifa’s official list of 36 referees for the tournament in Qatar later this year.
