In 2014, the Government of India launched the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) program to provide better living conditions to the poor. Within its framework, by March 24, 2022, the construction of more than 23.2 million permanent durable houses of the pucca category, that is, made of stone, brick, cement, concrete or wood, was completed.
