When you hear the saying “New Year New You”, it’s synonymous with looking and feeling your best. The New Year is around the corner, so we wanted to see some of the trends for 2025 to obviously look and feel great. We sat down with Melissa Gibbens. She is the Memoria business owner of Melissa Gibbens Aesthetics and Wellness Center as well as a Memorial mom. She has her pulse on what is happening now and upcoming next year.

Tony Award®-winning Alley Theatre and Artistic Director Rob Melrose announce the return of Alley’s holiday tradition, A Christmas Carol. This holiday favorite promises a dazzling Christmas feast featuring the Alley’s Resident Acting Company. New Resident Artist Amber D. Gray was the Associate Director for A Christmas Carol, originally adapted and directed by Rob Melrose, in 2022 and 2023. She will now direct the 2024 remount. Resident Acting Company member David Rainey returns as Ebenezer Scrooge for the eighth time at the Alley.

A Christmas Carol invites audiences to celebrate the holidays and create cherished memories. This heartwarming Houston tradition continues to captivate and inspire. Audiences can experience this timeless tradition of the beloved tale by Charles Dickens with vibrant Victorian costumes, lively dance numbers, and stunning sets that transport them to 19th-century London. The production seamlessly blends the heartwarming story with a ca****la renditions of favorite carols, filling the stage with the joyous sounds of the season.

Crafted by Enchant Christmas (the creators of the award-winning “World’s Largest Christmas Light Maze), Houston’s Classic Christmas experience is partnering with the professional football Houston Texans team in a spirted holiday evening.

Holiday magic comes to life at Classic Christmas, the all new immersive holiday light experience now open through December 29. Holiday revelers can stroll through a whimsical world of larger-than-life light sculptures, plus glide along the real ice skating rink, enjoy live musical performances, take photos with Santa and Mrs. Claus, speed down the thrilling snow slide, and sample tasty seasonal treats from local vendors at the Market Square.

As part of Classic Christmas’ special theme nights, the Houston Texans Night welcomes fans to celebrate the holidays in true Houston spirit. Select Texans players and the beloved team mascot, TORO, will be on hand for a meet-and-greet and autographs. Attendees are encouraged to show their team spirit by wearing their best Texans gear.

Classic Christmas welcomes guests of all ages. Tickets are available at https://www.classicchristmas.com/. Additional theme nights include Fiesta Navideña on December 13 followed by Ugly Christmas Sweater Night on December 15.

Memorial Park Conservancy’s 2024 Deck the Park, presented by Chevron, will mark the official kick-off to Memorial Park’s annual monthlong Holiday Lights display, presented by CenterPoint Energy Foundation.

All ages are invited to enjoy a variety of family-friendly holiday festivities at the 2024 Deck the Park including cookie decorating, delightful holiday characters, a tree lighting ceremony, and outdoor screening of holiday classic, Home Alone. Festive refreshments like apple cider, hot cocoa and more will be available. Children two and younger are free and tickets will be available for $10 online, as space allows. Guests will have the opportunity to purchase a Deck the Park Holiday Bundle, which will include Memorial Park Conservancy swag including a cozy picnic blanket and exclusive hot cocoa mugs.

The lights will be on display at Clay Family Eastern Glades for the public to enjoy through early January 2025. Featuring beautiful new lighting features, including a one-of-a-kind Holiday tree on Bowden Terrace lit against Hines Lake, the outdoor holiday wonderland will be a festive spectacle, with lights and lanterns throughout the Clay Family Eastern Glades’ half-mile Promenade. Guests are invited to walk the natural surface pedestrian path encircling nine acres of open space, native plantings and habitat.
