"Yes, this was the dangerous time of year, a time when sheep could get hungry, thirsty, or even hurt. Needless to say, the Shepherd took such dangers very seriously. But as for the sheep, they simply trusted in their Master's care. They knew that sooner or later He would give them rest, just as He always had.... And as for Sherman - well, for him danger was just another word for adventure; and adventure was the one thing Sherman loved best! ... Here, then, was how they lived - ever journeying through a land both rich and barren, beautiful and deadly."
~from "The Dangerous Journey of Sherman the Sheep" by Dean Davis

"Since my years in Communist camps, I was afraid at night. I had a recurring nightmare that I was trying to escape to Thailand and someone was chasing me to kill me... The refugee camp restrooms were not yet built, and we had to go out in the dark forest at night. I was frightened that something would get me in the dark. I would jump and run at the sound of a lizard crawling through the dry leaves... 'You can pray to God and he will take away your fear,' the missionary said to me. So I asked God to take away my fear. Then I forgot about it. The next time I went out at night, I realized I wasn't afraid. He took fear from my heart and mind." ~ Physa Chanmany in "NO MORE FEAR: From Killing Fields to Harvest Fields."

“At sixty one, I was at the top of my professional career, a wife, mother, and grandmother with many wonderful friends--and absolutely terrified....I was unaware of living as multiple identifies, but did spend my life running away from a 'me' I could neither understand nor tolerate....The first step to becoming one whole person happened to me the day in therapy when I became aware of the three adults who had been living in separate compartments in my brain. I saw them and they saw each other....A perfect three-point landing.”

About Cladach

Cladach is pronounced: Kla’ dak ~ A Scottish Gaelic word that means “shore” as in “seashore.” “Early in the morning, Jesus stood on the shore” (John 21:4). The Lord sends us forth on life’s sea to venture for him, then welcomes us to the safety of his shore; and always he is with us.

We are a family-owned, small press publishing in these categories:

  • Memoirs
  • Most of these first-person, true stories illuminate personal crises such as abandonment, cancer, addictions, and trauma — as well as turbulent contexts such as: World War II, the Holocaust, the 1960s, Terrorism, Genocide, Desert Storm, and the Middle East.
