Mrs. Heather's Story Time: The Christmas Story
Mrs. Heather's Story Time: The Christmas Story
Did you ever get a gift you thought would be one thing but turned out to be something you did not expect?
In a lot of ways the real Christmas story is just like that. It's about God giving all people everywhere a gift and the first people to receive that gift are surprised by it. And guess what, people today are still surprised by God's Christmas gift.
I hope you enjoy this story. It is one of my two most favorite stories.
Merry Christmas story time friends.
Love,
Mrs. Heather
Harold and The Purple Crayon
Tuesday, August 18th- Harold & the Purple Crayon
Question of the Day- What is your favorite color crayon?
Activities:
• Words: high, higher, highest
Idiom: Nothing ventured, nothing gained.
Fun with Words: add -er and -est to the end of a word and see if it becomes another word. Example: hot becomes hotter and hottest
• Nature Explorers- go for a walk in your neighborhood or city then come home and draw what you saw with one crayon using one line just like Harold.
• Artists- Draw your own imaginary adventure like Harold. What places will you go? How will you get there? What will you see?
• Story Time Chef- Bake a blueberry pie like Harold did (or blueberry muffins). What color do the blueberries make your mouth?
• God Moment: Harold's adventure was sometimes fun and sometimes scary but he was never alone and always safe. Sometimes new things in our life (like school) can make us feel scared, nervous or even angry but God is always with us. Remember how Jesus asked the brothers to go on an adventure to learn how to follow God? The brothers didn't know what would happen if they followed Jesus but they trusted God would be with them. We can trust God will always be good to us and help us all the time. Even when God asks us to do hard or new things. Read the story about Jesus and the fishermen brothers here:
