Dance music was a safe space for them, and it’s our job to continue to make it a safe space for everyone to come. Happy March, Beats Inclusive fam ⚡️ with this new month also comes Women’s History Month. Over the next few weeks we’ll be highlighting some artists and figures who have worked to empower women in this male-dominated industry.

First up is Discwoman 🎶 This collective, platform, and talent agency works tirelessly to promote the artistic careers of women as well as non-binary and other LGBTQ+ individuals. Founded by Frankie Decaiza Hutchinson, Emma Burgess-Olson, and Christine McCharen-Tran, they have a long list of accomplishments in the electronic music space since starting out as a two-day festival in 2014 at Bossa Nova Civic Club.

Black History Month is a reminder to us all to research and embrace the origins of electronic music: Black people of Chicago and Detroit pioneered this movement just a few decades ago.

Throughout this month we’ll be highlighting some of the most important Black figures who catalyzed the growth of this genre. First up is none other than the “Godfather of House” himself: Frankie Knuckles 🎧
