Oopsies we’re late! After the 1st week of August, we knew August was going to be busy. August became very busy and it threw some additional fun challenges in our worlds. Anyway, by the end of the first week of August, both Zee and I agreed to skip recording this month and put up some sort of announcement. We had weeks to do it, but you know what else we needed to do? Pay a $16 medical bill we just forgot about that went to collections because sifting through the mail is *hard mode* right now lolll. We’ll be back though!!

Deep reflections on parenting a toddler lol. Being on constant high alert is *exhausting*.

For parents who have passed the toddler stage, do you worry less as they have better spatial awareness?

For parents with toddlers, how do you manage this constant high alertness? I feel like my body can’t sustain adrenaline coursing through my body every time I take my toddler out for adventures. I’m POoped.

Be a doctor at 23, get married by 26, have babies at 27 (make sure it's twins so you get your multiples done!), find an uninhabited new island and claim it your own by 30. Ever feel this low (maybe high?) hum pressure of needing to fulfill these things by 30 or else you're labeled as a failure? Zee and Rissa delve into these arbitrary timeline expectations and talk about how this showed up for them, how it continues to impact them, and what they intend to do to protect their kids from these insignificant expectations with significant impact on people's well-being and happiness. ⁠

With so many kids acquiring allergies, (particularly peanut) including my offspring, I was *bummed* at the thought of my anak not being able to eat Kare Kare! My search for the best peanut butter alternative has ended with Wow Soy butter. It’s yummy as is, and surprisingly really good with Kare Kare. Enjoy fam with peanut allergies! Kare Kare can be accessible :)

Ah the magic of friendship! In this episode, Zee and Rissa explore the natural changes in friendships while we parent toddlers--- the celebrations and also grief of trying to maintain these meaningful connections. We start the episode off with imagining our parallel universe selves coming up with a new TV show that involves matchmaking parents with other parents (because, finding parent friends is so much harder than finding a friend just for you--- especially after our 30's!), followed by a dialogue that has us talking about the waning and waxing of relationships as we navigate parenthood.

I have no words. I have rage. Sadness. Hopelessness.

Last night, my family and I navigated COVID’s impact on our family, and my toddler, understandably, grasped on me desperately to stay with her through the night. I let her just hold me…sleep on me for hours. I laid there, without a phone on my hand to distract me so I can take her in completely. I sat there memorizing her smell and the way she hugs me. I sat there thinking about how I communicate with her when I look visibly in pain that it’s not her causing this and that I love her more than anything.

I’m thinking about the families of the babies killed in this preventable act. I’m thinking of the babies impacted directly by this preventable act and how it will continue to haunt them for the rest of their lives. I’m thinking about our educators whose worries and fear about laying their lives down for our babies are further solidified—it can happen to us. This is really a part of the job description.

Correction! 📣

Hello all! We wanted to share our apologies for our vocabulary mistake (and share our gratitude to our listeners who gave us the grace of letting us know, and extending their hand for opportunities to discuss the topic further ♥️).

In our last episode, Dirty (& Sexy) Nanay: The Bastos Episode, we talked a little about polyamory and its rightful legitimacy. We incorrectly used the term "polygamy" which is significantly different than "polyamory".

The term differentiation is so crucial where polyamory refers to a relationship term that shows liberation for people to loving who they want to love and expressing it in ways that works for them without the restriction of narrow societal norms. It's loving multiple people at the same time. Polygamy refers to being married to multiple people at the same time.

Part of truly honoring multiple narratives, identities, and stories means we honor the right names and the right terms.
