Look who is joining the farm. Just in time for Christmas, kids named him Frosty ❄. However we sent a pic to our old man and he thought it was a Zebu 🤭. No sir it's a frosty colored Savanna goat.

When you plant 🥒 cucumbers and got several round lemon looking cucumbers. Kids finally picked them to see what they looked like in the middle. It's the same as a cucumber but round and a bit sweet.

Been wanting to try this method of using a square hay bale we seen up in Helen, Georgia. To plant some more banana peppers too. This year we only got two as it was our first time.

Had a friend ask for some of our goat's 🐐 fertilizer to do some gardening. She shared this pics of her sunflowers and man they are nice. It's the JUMBO kind of 🌻.

Such sleepy heads too.

Kids wanted to regrow Romaine lettuce.
So we cut the stem and left it in a bowl of water. We noticed between 2-3 day we began to see them start growing.

We planted in a pot with soil and around 15 days we were ready to have some more 🥗 as our side with some pasta.

A boy and a girl, mama was also a twin so hopefully she continues.
However mama couldn't produce enough milk for both so we had 🍼 bottle feed him. It was like having a new born the kids said.

This has been a difficult year, just know
Farmers and Ranchers we are here with you! Awaiting the blessed rain.

This drought is really something else. Stay positive! We've encountered along the way several whom already have had to part with their animals, some say their done. The sell barns sure have been busy and just like in other droughts this too shall pass.
We ask you to hold on a little longer, there is a hidden blessing in all this.
Offering encouragement, as they once encouraged us.
From our family to yours🙏.

Took a road trip to this hidden beauty, Minnehaha Falls in Georgia. Kids loved it, since they got to mark another one of the list. This makes it our 10th waterfall visited so far down the Appalachian Mountains. Along with ranching we enjoy the outdoors. None hikers, but we like the hype and adventures.

Now back home and back to Farming 👨‍🌾.

FULL OF BABIES 🐣 ON THIS RAINY DAY!

Baby quail that is. A couple months ago we got gifted an incubator. Like I mentioned the months flew by, too scared to even open it. Always made some excuse of where I was going to put it.

The days and months caught me off guard. Before we knew it, here we are with this tiny little quails.
Even then when we saw the first one hatching, it grew in my mind if I did it right. Off course I wasn't going to let the wife and kids know. I let the sweat on my forehead tell them 😄.

I'm happy, their happy and the quail are dry plus fluffy. We can't wait to incubate some more.

What's summer without some sweet watermelon!

Had to stop at Dilorio's Framers Market in Hempstead, Tx. for some corn and ended up with this big yellow watermelon. As soon as we cut it in half you can smell the sweetness.

The last time we picked up from a road trip was in North Carolina, well besides the usual store bought watermelons that is.

They didn't disappoint 👌

Meet Solovin 🐣.
We were mama hens for a few days and really enjoyed it.
Once in awhile we have one of our mamas 🐔 reject one of their babies.
Little lonely thing spent the night alone, we found it in the morning calling out for it's mama.
Brought it inside, warm it up with the heat lamp and had to teach it to eat. It thought our hand was mama and would walk right under to fall asleep.

Didn't want it to grow up not being around them, so we headed in over to our local Tractor Supply. Thought we would go for 1 🐥 more and came back 4!!!! (Chicken math))
I tell you that night he stopped pio pio pio. All warmed up with it's new siblings.

The best part of this is I got to loose my fear of holding baby chickens 😅. Something about their tiny feather touching my hands!!! My heart fealt I should put it aside and give it the love it need to become a great Rooster or Hen.

Mother's day weekend brought us another baby goat 🎀!!!
Those times we come early in the morning for feeding time and to our surprise there (She) was to greet us 🤗. She was born to our oldest dairy goat, third round of babies.
Came a little weak there, but we are sure she will pick right up in a couple of days 😉.
Half Boer looks more like her daddy and half Alpine Lamancha dairy 🐐.
She is so tiny compare to our other one born just a couple of weeks ago.

Today is the day Mama flew away!!!!
A couple weeks ago we welcomed two sweet baby pigeons. It's been a fun time watching the mama and papa take turns nesting over the eggs 🥚🥚. Watched the first one hatch and by the next day both were next to each other 🤗. They grew in size the first week as well, compared to their size when they hatched from a tiny egg. We played the guessing game 🤔 on what color they will be.
Looks like they'll be like their papa.

As a child my husband raised pigeons, Messenger Pigeons. He told us once they start growing their feathers the mom will be ready to fly outside the nest. We thought "your crazy, what if she doesn't come back." Well today he open the door like every morning, and sure enough she flew out. I'm going to be honest I cried watching her leave them there. She first flew forward and back 2-3 times, then a little further. My husband says, do you see how she is measuring her distance so she can come back? Never seen anything like it 😮. Within a couple of hours she was back with them.

Once the kids got home from school they were yelling out, "mom mom, the mama pigeon got out." I reassured them just like their father told me ☺️. I can say I love it, the learning, the attachment and time spent raising this lovely creatures.

Soon welcoming the Baby Pigeons 🕊️.
It has been the greatest months since I gifted my husband his pigeons.

Something I been wanting to do for a good while. Growing up raising them, and now watching him train them to fly as they wish and return home. Thought by one of the greatest trainers he knew his uncle, who passed away but left him with the knowledge we share with you.

Surprisingly as he began crafting their nest. They were ahead of the game and set up their on little nest to await their two babies.

START THEM YOUNG.
When starting our family farm we made sure they learned some of our animals will be going to their new home. With this they also learned responsibility, the safety along with the life and death. Along with the cost of hay and feed, meds when their sick, plus accomodations with the weather.
They learn where their food comes from such as their eggs. The best part is hearing how their day went at school, where the classmates asked them about their goats and chickens. It's a share time experience.

Attachment issues happened at first. What helps, is the thought of knowing we will go the extra mile to make sure they sell to a good new home.
Made a flier 📃 and awaited, sure enough we get a call. Kids were happy to know they raised and fed 🐐 them with love for their first months of life. Here we are now, the spring baby's will soon be arriving! Then once again, begin looking for their forever home in a couple of months. Once ready we hope to see them in FFA and more Showings.
It's the part about teaching them young, which helps them choose their path in life.

Didn't get much cold for us during Christmas but we are getting the nice Crispy cold in February.
Like every past couple of years we get our annual order of Banana bread for a company Christmas party. Let me say they said they'll put their Christmas tree back up if we make some more to go with their coffee ☕. I agree the weather does call for some oven baked bread after a day's work grab a slice or two.
My grandma was the baker every Christmas she would make Hojarascas which is like a sugar cookie covered in sugar and cinnamon. A whole bunch for the family, one if the grandkids favorite. Sometimes if we were lucky she would she would make Buñuelos. More like a fried flour tortilla but very thin and bigger that a plate. Covered with sugar and cinnamon, and a nice cup of hot fruit punch. My dad would bake us corn bread in weather like this and still love it. Got to love the homemade baking, stay warm everyone.

A year ago today this nice Tangerine tree gave us 200+ delicious tangerines which we turned into marmalade and ate a few 😉. Shared the blessing with our neighbors and family as well.
Let me tell you how this tree made it to our home 🏡. Bought it, when it ooked like a small branch my dad would say. Planted it up front, but was getting the proper 🌞 sunlight. Neighbors said it would take years to give fruit. Well in about 6 months we seen 3 tiny tangerines 🍊 growing. Digged it out and replanted it in the backyard. Nothing for 1-2 years, not even with all the plant food we added. So my father made a cut/slit to the thin trunk and added a wet sponge 🧽 to it with a handkerchief tide around it. See my father growing up help my grandfather with his crops of cotton, watermelon, squash and more 🌱 . I guess that's where I get it from. Withing a few months we had tiny white flowers growing and bees 🐝 polinating!!! From 12 to 20 a year, then 50 to 80 and so on. Up until the February frost, we had to cut it short and begin again. Hope to see it bloom out and bless us with more delicious fruit 🍊.

Welcome little ones 🐰.
Their mama was born around this time last year and now she is a mama to 5 cute little bunnies.

Have you seen the wool made into yarn.
Takes me back to when my grandma 🧵🪡 use to do it in her old sewing machine. Remember those that you had to pedal in order for it to spin? Poked myself a time or two until I understood it's not to play with 😊.
