💙 Serious Sunday 💙
Let’s talk anxiety. Let’s talk depression.
For some reason, people don’t like to talk about it.
Is it because there is so much pain? Is it because we are afraid to be vulnerable?
Whatever it is, it needs to be talked about.
And it needs to become normal and socially acceptable to talk about.
Because we’re dealing with people’s lives here.
I want to share a perspective on depression and anxiety that relates to me and it may touch you as well.
“By understanding how to accept your experience in the present moment, you’ll be much better able to deal with anxiety and live a much better life”
Hear me out ...
One of my mentors, Eckhart Tolle, explains this thing called the painbody that lives in human beings and comes from the ego:
“When the ego is amplified by the emotion of the painbody, the ego has enormous strength still – particularly at those times. It requires very great presence so that you can be there as the space also for your painbody, when it arises.”
Isn’t this a profound and shifting way to look at the whole thing?
That
“unease, anxiety, tension, stress, worry – all forms of fear – are caused by too much future, and not enough presence
and
Guilt, regret, resentment, grievances, sadness, bitterness, and all forms of nonforgiveness are caused by too much past, and not enough presence.”
So if you do experience waves of anxiety or depression know you are not alone.
Ask for help.
