When we were drawing Young, we couldn't decide for a long time on which elements should have the print, what it would be like, how bright and contrasting it would be. We tried to put it on the collar, put highlights on the fabric in different ways. Finally, we settled on this version.

A few wrathful words about William!

We are now making progress on several fronts, the work is in full swing, but... But not with the text! Having got to reworking the route of this big guy (the editor is now probably giving me a glare), for more than a month we have been banging our heads and we are now moving at the speed of 10 frames in several days at most.

So please look at him with reproach, and tell him that he will not get lunch if he does not stop being mischievous! I would like to finish the work with the text of his branch at least by the end of January...

Мы сейчас делаем успехи по нескольким фронтам, работа кипит, но... Но только не с текстом! Добравшись до переработки маршрута этого здоровяка (редактор сейчас смотрит косо), уже больше месяца бьемся головой и двигаемся фреймов по 10 в несколько дней.

Срочно посмотрите на него с укоризной, и скажите, что он не получит обед, если не прекратит вредничать! Хотелось бы закрыть работу с текстом его ветки, хотя бы до конца января...

Today we're answering your questions!

It looks like it's time to start a whole section because we really enjoy talking to you about the game's lore and script without spoilers. The most common question is why Beatrice changes her hair colour and haircut.

In the world of Tenebrae, vampires are born albinos. They have pale skin, discoloured hair and eyes, they do not tolerate ultraviolet, and their vision takes a long time to adapt to changes in lighting.

After coming of age (about 50 years old), the vampire learns to control the ability to retain pigment. And our Beatrice successfully uses the acquired skill so as not to stand out from the crowd and not to attract the attention of hunters.

And she changes her haircut in one of the routes again for conspiracy purposes.

Похоже, пора заводить целую рубрику, потому что нам очень нравится говорить с вами о лоре игры и сценарии без спойлеров. Самый частый вопрос: почему Беатрис меняет цвет волос и стрижку.

В мире "Тенебры" вампиры рождаются альбиносами. У них бледная кожа, бесцветные волосы и глаза, они плохо переносят ультрафиолет, а зрение долго адаптируется к смене освещения.

Достигнув совершеннолетия (примерно в 50 лет) вампир учится управлять способностью удерживать пигмент. И наша Беатрис успешно пользуется обретенным навыком, чтобы не выделяться из толпы и не привлекать внимание охотников.

А стрижку она меняет в одном из маршрутов. Опять же, в целях конспирации.

Another showcase of "before/after"

Last week we worked with some of the already finished backgrounds. We wanted to move the hotel in Brno to Vilno, and the one in Vilna to Brno. We've switched the landscapes outside the window, removed the noise where it was not needed, and added it where it was needed. The painting was added as well (the most attentive will understand what is depicted on it) and played with the light.

The pictures above are the "before" and the ones below are the "after".

На прошлой неделе поработали с готовыми фонами. Захотелось гостиницу Брно перенести в Вильно, а из Вильно - в Брно. Меняли пейзажи за окном. Убирали шум, там где он не нужен, добавляли - там где нужен. Картину вставили (самые внимательные поймут, что на ней) и со светом поиграли.

Сверху было, снизу - стало.

We've had a little fun out here.

We wanted to test a new background from the engine to test how the sprites would look like. So we've persuaded Charlie to get rid of some clothes in the dressing room.
