At Warrap State Secretariat General (Council of Ministers), newly appointed governor of Warrap State, Gen. Magok Magok Deng Rong, assumes office in military fatigue.

Magok Magok holds the position of major general in the SSPDF, but lacks a proven track record of administrative experience.

If we are right, this must be Gen. Magok Magok’s first political, administrative role.

Warrap State citizens remain reserved in their expectations, awaiting tangible results to inform their optimism or pessimism.

During his swearing-in ceremony, newly appointed Vice President for Economic Cluster Benjamin Bol Mel says he will ensure civil servants’ salaries are paid.

“The first thing I will do is to pay salaries for civil servants,” says Bol.

Bol Mel’s promise to pay out civil servants’ salaries echoes the promise the Minister of Finance and Planning made when he was appointed.

The event was attended by the Minister of Finance and the Commissioner General of the National Revenue Authority.

Given what we know, is his promise to pay civil servants’ salaries substantial?

Bol is also serving as a high-ranking officer in the NSS (National Security Services).

In an unprecedented move, after returning from the United Arab Emirates (UAE), President Salva Kiir issued a series of decrees.

1-NSS Director General (DG) of the Internal Security Bureau (ISB), Gen. Akech Tong Aleu has been sacked.

Charles Cech Mayor, the Deputy Director of ISB, will serve as acting DG until a new Director General is appointed.

2- SPLM Secretary-General Peter Lam Both relieved. President Kiir has rescinded the appointment of Peter Lam Both as Secretary-General of the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM).

3-Presidential decrees relieving two vice presidents: James Wani Igga, Vice President for the Economic Cluster and Hussien Abdhabagi Akol, Vice President for the Service Cluster.

Dr. Josephine Joseph Lagu, who has been Minister of Agriculture and Food Security has now been appointed Vice President, replacing Hussein Abdelbagi Akol, representing SSOA (South Sudan Opposition Alliance).

Benjamin Bol Mel relieved from his position as Presidential Envoy and assumes Vice Presidency, as Vice President for Economic Cluster, replacing James Wani Igga.

The National Security Services (NSS)/the Internal Security Bureau (ISB) Director-General (DG), Gen. Akech Tong Aleu has been sacked.
