I don’t have to go far to make a photograph. This past year’s images include many captured in my own back yard, from a Red-shouldered hawk to a strolling millipede, from a Pacific tree frog to a pair of young racoons.

It's always exciting to see how work from the Life on Earth team is used so widely. Here work by Sean Hawkey is displayed in an outdoor exhibition on Ebola by the World Health Organisation at the lake in Geneva. As Life on Earth Pictures marks three years as an agency, we’re pleased to share with you that we are complementing our massive archive of still images with a new collection of videos. We want to help visual editors tell their organization’s story with compelling content from every continent. When it launches in the coming weeks, our clients with an unlimited account will be able to browse and download what they need for immediate use, while other clients will have access on a pay-per-download basis.

New year, new assignments. Today, Life on Earth Pictures colleague Albin Hillert witnessed and documented a historic event in the Old City of Jerusalem, working on assignment for The Lutheran World Federation as Evangelical Lutheran Church in Jordan and the Holy Land's Sally Azar became the first Palestinian woman to be ordained as a pastor for service in Palestine. This is a small sample of images from the ordination service, celebrated at the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer.
