๐Ÿ”ฅ Contradicting principles always cause confusion & drive away real political partnership.

A few days ago 's military offensive was portrayed as "Menelik Offensive" & as "Menilik III"

Today they used "Multiโ€National Unity Offensive" which contradicts it in its fullest sense.

Prosperity Party has been doing this for 2 years now, showing different groups different faces instead of putting inevitably accepted principles for everyone to agree on.

This robbed them of any real partnership because no one is quite sure what they stand for. The result was instability and loss of social base for PM Abiy. That it turn laid the foundation for his manipulation by right wing radicals.

๐ŸŒด Owing to our long history of bloody civil wars, foolishly believe our problems will end if we destroy our political opponents with force.

But fighting each other always added more problems we passed on to the next generation. It never solved a thing!

โ˜ข๏ธ in use over simplification of complicated political problems as a propaganda tool against their political advaersaries by dialing down complicated issues arising from faulty nationstate formation to simple terms like,

๐Ÿ“Œ Unity
๐Ÿ“Œ Saving Ethiopia
๐Ÿ“Œ Traitors

These are loaded words subtly used against political opponents for the purpose of character assassination.

๐Ÿ”ฐ Press Agency's article, (Deacon Daniel Kibret is a board) calls Prime Minister Abiy "Menilik III". Why resemble the two leaders? Just a coincidence? I don't think so.

King Menilik II subjugated Southern , took over their land, established garrison towns to subjugate them & used a policy of assimilation against "other" identities. In today's Ethiopia the are wreaking havoc in every way possible.

Deacon Daniel recently said in his very controversial remark, "we should bury their ideology" obviously after the war, which many believed referred to federalist politics & politicians in the country that push for real self governance, usually regarded by as the ultimate evil.

Why would they call Abiy Menilik the 3rd then? Is PM Abiy's project a continuation of King Menilik's assimilationist project? If not, why liken them? Just for Adwa? I don't thibk so.

๐Ÿ Hijacking the term " " for yourself & using it to attack your political opponents ends up belittling its greatness.

People will view as a political tool, not a true nationalist sentiment to belong to. You are pushing people away from a country you claim to love! Stop!

๐Ÿšฉ It's quite immoral to slap an โ€n label to your own political positions & call your opponents " ", accusing them of " " & "destroying the country".

That's textbook media manipulation overly used by radical for decades! The bloody war has amplified it to unbelievable proportions! ๐Ÿ˜“

He could have played a positive role in reconciliation efforts now or later!

๐Ÿšฉ As if our bloody civil war wasn't enough, we are now officially asking other African countries to join us!

Dr. Mihret Debebe wouldn't have said such a thing under normal circumstances. But politics has a way of changing people's character. ๐Ÿ˜“

Dr. Abadir Ibrahim

It is extremely brave of ( #แ‹ฒแˆฝแ‰ณแŒŠแŠ“ #แ‰ณแˆชแŠฉแŒ‹แŠ•แŠชแˆฒ) to call for at a concert for . If there is such a thing as a silent majority, or even a silent minority, that opposes this , the moment to is .

For those who still support the war because you think your group or your cause is going to win โ€“ it is time you realize that we all lost so much by the mere fact that this war started. The sooner this bloodletting stops, the more we minimize the irreversibility of the damage and the higher the chances we have for a better future for all.

Hope it is not too late for peace, for a future in which we have a chance to overcome mistakes of the last year, speak up against the venality of those who make war but do not fight in it.

๐ŸŽˆThere are at least 8 solid reasons why Ethiopia urgently needs serious national reconciliation.
๐ŸŒด 1/ The nation-state building process that was riddled with forced assimilation & the consecutive state of denial on the collective pain of the majority has utterly failed to complete;
๐ŸŒด 2/ The fiercely conflicting narratives in the political community in the fields of history and its underlying rhetoric is too wide to harmonize without a national dialogue;
๐ŸŒด 3/ The horizontal societal cohesion has greatly been weakened due to the toxic nature of the ever-conflictive political rivalries in the country;
๐ŸŒด 4/ Age old assimilative policies that were overcome in the last 3 decades of struggle seemingly creeping back into the government have created an atmosphere of fear amongst the majority which may very well end the state;
๐ŸŒด 5/ The deep rooted unitarian authoritarianism fanning the ever growing desire to destroy political opponents has ushered in "the era of the gun", characterized by a bloody civil war;
๐ŸŒด 6/ Laws governing boundaries and federational sovereignty has been substituted with military might, thereby completely changing the law of the game to our demise;
๐ŸŒด 7/ The politics of the country have been consumed completely by illicit conspiracies & power-mongering conflicts, making good governance an impossible dream to realize;
๐ŸŒด 8/ It is absolutely impossible to establish real democracy that the country has been yearning for without proper initiatives of national dialogue;

๐Ÿ… Some foolishly consider amplifying societal grievances & maintaining meanigful discourse on their underlying historic & socio political backgrounds is being a "cryโ€baby"

โ˜ฃ 's major problem in relation with the water share controversy isโ€ฆ๐Ÿ‘‡
๐Ÿ”ฐ its refusal to accept the new reality that its unjust hegemony over the Nile has ended!
๐ŸŒ” This stopped it fromโ€ฆ๐Ÿ‘‡
โš€ Moving out of its comfort zone
โš€ Mitigating its water dependence
โš€ Stopping water wastage
โš€ Modernizing irrigation system
โš€ Using alternative resources
Egyptian governments should concentrate on solving the main issues instead of wasting their energy in trying to stop from using its own water resource.

๐Ÿ€ The solution for - - tension over (not ) is simple... We should agree & share the water equitably. In 1959 treaty (which Ethiopia didn't sign because it wasn't even invited ๐Ÿ™„)
๐Ÿ“Œ Egypt took 66%
๐Ÿ“Œ Sudan took 22%
๐Ÿ“Œ Evaporation took 12%
๐Ÿ“Œ Ethiopia took 0%
This historic wrong was done despite the fact that Ethiopia contributes to 86% of the water (94% in the rainy season). In what world is this considered fair?!
Let Ethiopia take its share = PROBLEM SOLVED!

Ethiopia is too complicated! What we are witnessing now is an attempt to destroy ethno-nationalism even at the expense of disintegration. The irony is in the fact that the "destroyers" themselves could be considered "ethno-nationalists" in essence and likeness.

Much worrying trends in Ethiopia as the politics is increasingly becoming polarized. Many fear debilitating consequences of an undergoing change in government structure. The way the government is dealing with the situation is very immature, to say the least!
