PRACTICE TEACHERS!đź’™
May 13, 2022 | With the theme " Research, Teaching and Learning in a Time of Innovation and Adaptation: Bridging the Gap Between Theory and Practice", the Philippine Association for Teachers and Educators (PAFTE) held a Students' Congress webinar via Zoom and was participated by the UNO-R, College of Education(COED) 4th and 3rd-year students along with different colleges and universities in Region VI.
The morning session of the virtual students' congress started at 9 AM and was opened by an inspiring message from Dr. Brenda B. Corpuz, PAFTE National President. "Continue innovating, that is a sign and a proof that we are alive, that we grow and change our ways better and better…we are the master of technology, it is us who determine how technology should make us more effective teachers, how technology should bridge the gap between theory and practice." uttered by Dr. Corpuz.
Afterward, Dr. Ma. Theresa H. Chavez, Dean of UNO-R, COED introduced the speaker in the person of Dr. Joji D. Linaugo who shared his knowledge and expertise in research from choosing the right topics down to concluding.
This virtual event sought to bring together future professionals and researchers towards excellence in the field of research and innovation. To showcase students' potential and outputs, the PAFTE gave each school the opportunity by sharing their platform to present students' research.
UNO-R, College of Education featured the research entitled "SONA 2020: The Duterte Discourse" presented by Windsor Linus R. Sumbillo and co-authored by Angela G. Gamarza, Nicole D. Ordaniel, Mark Anthony R. Retiban, and Jaymark B. Villagracia. The researchers are indeed grateful to the UNO-R, CoEd, Mr. Remus S. Magbanua, and PAFTE for the opportunity given to them and also to their research adviser and professor, Mr. Nikko Paolo R. Calumpiano, who guided them throughout their academic endeavor.
On the other hand, Ms. Andrea Nicole Sumugat, BEED Practice Teacher shared her insights after the Regional Students' Congress, " Although it took place virtually, the knowledge and experience I garnered from this event were meaningful. This students' congress enlightens me about the role of teachers in the effective utilization of technology for the teaching-learning process and most definitely in producing well-crafted research. As future educators, we are expected to be life-long learners, and through conducting research, we can spot educational or even societal problems and resolve them in a systematic & reflective manner as we bridge the gap between theory and practice."
