Hushpuppi Jailed 11 Years Despite Wife, Imams’ Pleas

The United States District Court sitting at the Central District of California on Monday sentenced convicted fraudster, Ramon Abbas, aka Hushpupi, to 11 years and three months’ imprisonment after he was found guilty of laundering proceeds of a school financing scam, business email compromise and other fraudulent cyber schemes.

The United States Department of Justice, in a statement on Tuesday, said the Instagram celebrity was also ordered by a federal judge to pay $1.7m in restitution to two fraud victims.

The judgment, which was delivered by Justice Otis Wright II, put an end to Hushpuppi’s trial that started after his arrest in June 2020 in his Dubai, United Arab Emirates hotel apartment.

The Assistant Director in charge of the FBI’s Los Angeles Office, Don Alway, in the statement, described Hushpuppi as “one of the most prolific money launderers in the world.”

Hushpuppi was extradited to the United States on July 3.

Two More Children Die After Stepfather Set Five Ablaze In Ondo

Few days after a 54-year-old man, Joseph Ojo, set ablaze his five stepchildren in Ondo State, two of the children have given up the ghost.

The two children pass on after one of them died before getting to the hospital when the incident occurred on Saturday.

Ojo had set ablaze the children at his residence in Fagun crescent area of Ondo town, headquarters of Ondo West Local Government Area of Ondo State.

The man who had been arrested by the police was said to have alleged his wife who is mother of the children of denying him of s*x.

With the issue leading to argument between them, Ojo allegedly poured petrol into the room while the children were fast asleep set it on fire.

Elon Musk's Net Worth Falls Below $200bn; Investors Dump Tesla Shares As He Becomes ‘More Focused On Twitter'

Forbes estimates that Musk's current net worth is $194.8 billion, with a significant portion of that coming from his approximately 15 per cent ownership in Tesla, which has a market value of $622 billion

As Twitter takes up more and more of Elon Musk's attention, concerned Tesla Inc. shareholders sold their shares, bringing the billionaire's net worth below $200 billion.

Reportedly they dumped their shares of the firm out of concern that Musk, the company's chief executive and main shareholder, is becoming more and more focused on Twitter.

As per Reuters, since he made his bid for Twitter in April, the company's valuation has decreased by almost half, and his personal wealth has decreased by $70 billion.

Forbes estimates that Musk's current net worth is $194.8 billion, with a significant portion of that coming from his approximately 15 per cent ownership in Tesla, which has a market value of $622 billion.

Meanwhile, Musk has sold 9.5 million Tesla shares worth $4 billion, according to the US Securities and Exchange Commission filings.

The SEC documents revealed on Tuesday show Musk, who financed much of his Twitter purchase with Tesla stock, has sold more than 19 million shares worth in excess of $3.9 billion, reports AFP news agency.

Musk hasn't tweeted much about Tesla since he bought Twitter, despite the fact that this is what helped him earn followers on the platform. Instead, he announced plans for the social network via Twitter.

"It seems like Elon Musk is spending 100% of the time on Twitter and, you know, it might need more capital," said Infrastructure Capital Management's Jay Hatfield.

It took an equity commitment of $33.5 billion and a $13 billion loan commitment last month to close the contentious $44-billion Twitter deal.

Kano Tiktokers To Be Flogged For Abusing Ganduje

The Kano State Magistrates’ Court on Monday ordered that two comedians, Mubarak Muhammad, and Nazifi Bala, be given 20 lashes for defaming the state Governor, Dr Abdullahi Ganduje, on their Tiktok accounts.

Magistrate Aminu Gabari, in his ruling, also ordered the duo to sweep and wash the toilets on the premises of the magistrates’ court for 30 days.

He further directed that the 20 lashes be administered in public.

The magistrate also ordered the convicts to pay a fine of N10,000 each for defaming Ganduje and another N10,000 for causing public disturbance.

 Senior Magistrate Gabari similarly administered non-custodial terms against the convicts and ordered them to produce a video on social media to tender an apology to the governor.

Recall that the convicts had on Friday, November 4, pleaded guilty to the two counts of defamation and inciting public disturbance slammed against them.

According to the First Information Report, the duo had on their verified Tiktok account defamed Ganduje.

Man Who Shot Woman Dead With AK47 For Walking Dog Near His Home Jailed For Life

A man has been jailed for life without the possibility of parole after he shot a woman dead with a stolen assault rifle.

Michael Close killed Isabella Thallas in 2020 while she walked her dog, Rocko, near his apartment in Denver, Colorado, and tried to kill her boyfriend Darian Simon.

The trio got into an argument when Isabella encouraged her dog to go to the toilet on the lawn outside his flat. He shouted: ‘Are you going to train your dog or just yell at it?’

Darian told him to mind his own business and that Rocko was a good dog.

Close took the rifle, which belonged to his friend police sergeant Dan Politica and shot 25 rounds at them from the AK-47.

Isabella died at the scene while Darian was hit twice but survived. Sergeant Politica ended up quitting after the shooting, according to the Denver Post.

Close ran away from the scene, taking the AK-47 and a handgun with him, and hid in the mountains before eventually being stopped on Highway 285.

Earlier that day, he had sent a message to his ex-girlfriend that one of his own dogs was attacked at a nearby dog park and he planned to execute its owners.

Isabella and Darian had nothing to do with that incident but Deputy District Attorney McKenna Burke said: ‘He was stewing and he was welling with anger inside of him.’

Married Woman ‘Killed Pregnant Mom To Take Her Unborn Baby’

A married woman allegedly kidnapped and killed pregnant mother to take her unborn child – and her husband admitted to helping cover up the horrific crime.

The married couple, Amber and Jamie Waterman, were arrested on Thursday in connection with the disappearance of 33-year-old Ashley Bush, who was 31 weeks pregnant when she was found dead with her fetus in another location.

Amber allegedly created a fake Facebook account under the name Lucy Barrows to lure Bush into meeting her about a job opening. But Amber really intended to steal Bush’s fetus, according to a federal criminal complaint obtained by 5NEWS.

Bush had complications during her fourth pregnancy and was told to take time off work, but she looked for a work-from-home position in a Facebook group for moms, her fiancé Josh Willis told the TV station.

On October 28, Bush and Willis met ‘Lucy’ at a public library in Gravette, Arkansas, and were told that Bush would have to travel with the woman to meet the boss in Bentonville.

Three days later, Willis said he left Bush at a convenience store in Maysville and went to pick her up when she texted that she was back at 3pm. Willis said the lady driving Willis did not stop.

Ondo Father Detained For Burning Stepchildren During Quarrel

The Ondo State Police Command on Sunday said it arrested a man, Ojo Joseph, for allegedly setting ablaze five of his stepchildren in the Fagun area of Ondo town, Ondo State.

The 64-year-old suspect was said to have committed the act following a disagreement with his wife, who is the mother of the victims.

The woman was said to have had the children for another man, whom she divorced before marrying the suspect.

The marriage with the suspect also produced a set of twins.

A source said the suspect poured petrol into the children’s room while they were asleep and set it on fire.

Nurses To Hold Biggest Ever Strike Across UK Within Weeks

Nurses have voted to strike across the UK in the first ever national action over a pay dispute.

Counting is under way in the ballot of more than 300,000 Royal College of Nursing (RCN) members – but it’s believed enough nurses have voted for a winter walkout.

The industrial action is set to take place within a few weeks, possibly before Christmas, as the RCN demands a pay rise of 5% above inflation.

General secretary Pat Cullen said: ‘Our strike action will be as much for patients as it is for nurses – we have their support in doing this.’

The exact nature of the strikes is yet to be determined, but it will likely see patients facing disruption to operations and appointments amid record NHS waiting lists.

‘This will see the majority of services taken out, and picket lines across the country,’ a union source told the Observer.

It comes as Rishi Sunak and Chancellor Jeremy Hunt face the huge challenge of tackling a £50 billion hole in public finances.

In a statement, Mrs Cullen said: ‘Patients are at great risk when there aren’t enough nurses.

‘Huge numbers of staff – both experienced and newer recruits – are deciding they cannot see a future in a nursing profession that is not valued nor treated fairly.’

Supermarket ‘Shoplifter And Security Guard Shoot Each Other Dead’

An alleged supermarket shoplifter and a security guard who shot at each other both wound up dead.

Gunfire erupted at the entryway of the Giants grocery store in Oxon Hill, Maryland, around 10.25am on Friday, police said. Arriving officers found two victims with gunshot wounds on the ground.

A man, the guard, died at the scene. A woman, the alleged shoplifter who was trying to put items in her backpack, was rushed to a hospital, where she later succumbed to her wounds.

Witnesses reported hearing several gunshots inside the supermarket.

The woman began shooting at the security guard after being confronted about shoplifting, Prince George’s County police told WJLA.

In response, the guard shot back at the woman, according to Fox Baltimore.

Neither of the victims was immediately identified, pending notification to their families. Police did not disclose what the woman was attempting to make off with.

UK Remands 28-year-old Nigerian For Stabbing Mother To Death

A Nigerian, Nicolas Aina, has been arraigned for stabbing his 64-year-old mother, Caroline Adeyelu, to death and injuring his 33-year-old sister, Angel Adeyelu, at their family house in Dagenham, East London, United Kingdom.

According to itv News, the 28-year-old allegedly went into his sister’s bedroom and stabbed her repeatedly with a knife.

After she heard her daughter’s screams, Caroline reportedly went in to see what was going on, but the suspect allegedly lunged at her with the knife before fleeing the property in Auriel Avenue.

Aina’s mother was pronounced dead at the scene, while his sister was treated in hospital for stab wounds and discharged.

A neighbour, Samantha Southey, who lived adjacent to the victims’ home, reportedly stated that she heard the commotion resulting from the incident.

She said, “I just heard a bit of commotion last night. The police knocked on the door and said they caught the person. It’s a little bit frightening.”

Stranger Picks Calls As 45-year-old Ogun Trader Goes Missing

Family members of a woman, Rosemary Obidinma, who reside in Ibafo, in the Obafemi-Owode Local Government Area of Ogun State, have cried out after she did not return home from her shop on Tuesday.

It was gathered that the mother of five spoke to her first child, Daniel, that evening on her way home from Apapa, Lagos State.

It was learnt that by Wednesday, when Daniel and his siblings called their mother’s phone after she did not return home, the man who picked the call warned them to stop disturbing him, saying he was in Delta State.

Daniel, stated that his last conversation with his mother was around 10pm on Tuesday.

He said, “My mother left for her shop at Apapa. Before she left, she told me that if the traffic on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway was serious, she would come back home.

“Later, I called her around 9:30am and she told me that she had boarded a bus to Berger. By 12pm, my sister and I called her and she told us that she was already at Apapa; this was when we needed more money to complete my sister’s post-UTME registration.

Terrorists Abduct 21 Children In Katsina, Demand N30m Ransom

No fewer than 21 children have been abducted by a terrorists gang at a farmland in Mairuwa community, Faskari Local Government Area of Katsina State.

The incident happened on Sunday at about 12:30 pm, the Katsina Police Command spokesman SP Gambo Isah stated on Wednesday.

The abductees, he said, are aged between 15 and 18 years. He added that the command has been making efforts to rescue them.

“Yes, we got the report and we are working to rescue them. The children among them are 21, between 15 and 18 years,” he added.

“The owner of the farm was not around when the incident happened.”

Ifeanyi: Davido’s Nanny, Cook May Face Charges For Negligence

The two suspects detained in connection with the death of three-year-old Ifeanyi Adeleke, son of music artiste, Davido, and his fiancée, Chioma Rowland, may remain in police custody until they are cleared by an autopsy report.

A credible source, who disclosed this on Wednesday, said the nanny and the cook were directly in charge of Ifeanyi’s welfare, adding that they might also be liable for negligence.

The source said, “The cook and the nanny were the ones directly with the child, so, they are guilty of negligence until the autopsy is conducted. During investigation, we have suspects, and depending on the case, the suspects may or may not be released.

“So far, the family has not objected to the autopsy, but how fast it will be done depends on the hospital. But the next move is to review the CCTV at the house.”

Boldnews had reported that after Ifeanyi’s co**se was recovered from the swimming pool at his father’s residence in the Banana Island area of Lagos State, it was deposited in a mortuary for autopsy.

The police subsequently invited eight domestic workers and after interrogation, six of them were released.

Students ‘Killed Their Spanish Teacher Over Bad Grade’

Two teenage high school students killed their Spanish teacher after beating her with baseball bats because they received bad grades, prosecutors argue in newly revealed court documents.

Nohema Graber, a high school Spanish teacher in Fairfield, Iowa, was found beaten to death and hidden in a field outside the town of 9,400 people in early November, 2021.

Police arrested Willard Miller and Jeremy Goodale, both 16-year-old high school students, for her murder on November 2, 2021.

However, lawyers for Miller are disputing some of the evidence gathered against the teenager at a hearing on Wednesday. They are claiming police lacked probable cause when they searched his home and his cell phone.

In response, prosecutors unsealed court documents detailing previously unreported details about the events leading up to and directly following Graber’s death.

Police discovered that Graber met with Miller at Fairfield High School on the afternoon of November 2 to discuss his poor grades in class.

‘The poor grade is believed to be the motive behind the murder of Graber which directly connects Miller,’ prosecutors said in a brief.

Pregnant Woman ‘Fatally Stabs Boyfriend After Baby Shower In Fight Over Using Microwave’

A heavily pregnant woman allegedly stabbed her boyfriend to death shortly after their baby shower in a fight over who would use the microwave.

Keshia Golden, 33, and her boyfriend Calvin Sidney, 29, got into an argument about using the microwave in their apartment around 3am after getting back from their celebration the night before, the Chicago Sun-Times reported.

Golden, eight months pregnant at the time, knocked down a plate that Sidney had in his hands, officials said. Sidney in turn shoved Golden on the counter, as his uncle tried to separate the couple.

Sidney then angrily went to a bedroom, where Golden allegedly used a knife to stab him in the leg. Golden dropped the weapon and left the apartment, prosecutors said.

The slashing reached Sidney’s femoral artery and he was transported to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he died.

Golden got back home a few hours later, not knowing that Sidney had died.

Family Seeks Help As 23-year-old Mechanic Disappears

A Lagos resident, Babatunde Banjoko, has cried out following the disappearance of his brother, Adewale.

The 23-year-old mechanic was said to have left his parents’ house at Igando in the Alimosho area of Lagos State on October 14 and never returned home.

Babatunde stated that the family, which had been disturbed by the incident, reported a case of a missing person at the Igando Police Station.

He said, “I gave them the necessary information they requested except for his picture that I am taking there later.

“My grandmother in Ondo State said she heard his name announced on a radio station to be among some people that were arrested in a state in the South-East. But, she is too old to remember which particular state it was.”

The distraught brother appealed to the public to help with information that might help in finding his brother.

Davido: Autopsy Likely As Police Free Six Workers, Detain Two

The death of three-year-old Ifeanyi Adeleke, son of popular musician, Davido, elicited widespread grief and attracted messages of commiseration from all strata of Nigerians, writes DEJI LAMBO

There are indications that the police might conduct an autopsy to determine whether Ifeanyi Adeleke, son of popular music artiste, Davido, and his fiancée, Chioma Rowland, died as a result of drowning in a swimming pool at his father’s residence in the Banana Island area of Lagos State.

An impeccable source, who confirmed the development, said it was standard practice for the police to conduct an autopsy in such a case, adding, however, that the police would desist from the move if the deceased family members were against it.

“Though the family members are not saying anything yet because they are still in shock but until anybody says stop, the standard procedure is to conduct an autopsy and we are going to follow that procedure just like in any case of death,” the source said.

Explaining further, the source said out of the eight domestic workers interrogated by the police in connection with Ifeanyi’s death, the cook and nanny, whose job was to cater for the wellbeing of the three-year-old boy, had been detained for reasons including the failure to uphold the duty of care of the minor.

The source said, “It was the work of the nanny to take care of the child (Ifeanyi); the nanny was negligent or how could the boy have left the house without her knowledge?

 “The boy left the house, walked to the back where the swimming pool is situated and fell into the swimming pool. Nobody noticed until much later. At that point in time, he had drowned and was at the bottom of the swimming pool.

“So, they brought him out and rushed him to the Lagoon Hospital, where the doctors tried unsuccessfully to revive him. They left the hospital and rushed the boy to Evercare Hospital, where he was declared dead.
