THIS WEEK’S CREATIVE OF THE WEEK IS: MOLLY SHAW

Molly Shaw is an illustrator who specialises in digital portraiture and sometimes landscape imagery.

Her work takes influence of Art Nouveau, or better known in the UK as “The Modern Style” but with more passion for vibrancy and colour than the usual modern artist.

Shaw’s illustrations tend to incorporate text as a way to reflect her state of being at the time of creation, adding in small sentences to add narrative to her piece and include the viewer into her point of view. Shaw’s style can be seen to incorporate fine art elements that aren’t usual in many illustrators, as she tends to walk the line between the two on a regular basis.

We absolutely adore Molly’s style and use of colours and shapes! Give Molly a follow on Instagram or TikTok to see more of her stunning illustrations 🤩 .illustration /

INTRODUCING OUR POTTERY
WORKSHOP HOST: KANA LONDON

Join Ana Kerin, founder of Kana London, for an interactive pottery session, including an insight into her career journey.

"Kana London was born fortuitously as a result of my training in sculpture & my background in fine art, eventually becoming a fully developed project in London in 2012.

Sculpting and an affinity for working with clay led me to wanting to apply the principles of my art work - the tactile, hand built aesthetics, the traces of my fingerprints and hands on the surface - into functional ceramics.

My approach to work is experimental and playful, as I never follow a procedure, and invent new recipes daily. I work with a unique mixture of clays and mix my own glazes, often turning my back on traditional ceramic practice. Hand building, rather than turning on the wheel, further emphasizes the individuality of each piece.

All of my work is: stoneware, food safe glazed, made from durable materials & suitable for use in the oven & dish washer (though, as with any precious ceramics, I'd advise hand washing & to avoid frequent oven use)."

INTRODUCING OUR FIRST EVER CREATIVE OF THE WEEK!

ChristyRose_art

Christy is a fine artist, currently studying Fine Art at Leeds Arts University.

"My practice is formed by the framework of feminism, and I’m intrigued by the developments made in modern British history for the lives of women (working-class areas like Doncaster in particular) and how further developments need to be made to improve the stunted growth of equality. Collage currently serves as my main process to demand this change, as I can physically piece my concerns together and exaggerate the ‘here’ and ‘there’ cultural position of women through the decades."
