I wanted to challenge fashion boundaries more this time by embracing unconventional space and creating something truly unique. 🎨💫 I imagine how to use collected newspaper and magazines to bring this beautifully textured masterpiece to life.

In addition to the fight against floods and the planting of 1 million trees, to achieve the objectives of carbon neutrality by 2050, the world of construction in New York must meet several major challenges, including the thermal renovation of existing buildings and the construction of structures with low energy consumption and net-zero greenhouse gas emissions.

To achieve this, Biomimicry is an emergent, creative, and interdisciplinary process, between biology and technology, between science and architecture, whose goal is to solve our anthropocentric problems and the resulting climate change through the transfer and the application of knowledge resulting from the observation of biological models in order to develop constructive processes and spatial organizations allowing the sustainable development of our societies.

Our leitmotif is to transform New York City into an ecosystem, its neighborhoods into forests and its buildings into inhabited trees producing their own energy and recycling all their waste into resources.

The award-winning photojournalist Sebastião Salgado and his wife, the architect Lélia Deluiz Wanick, decided to show the world what a small group of people with faith in Earth and in human beings can do.
They reforested in Aimorés, Minas Gerais, Brazil, a devastated 1,500-acre forest home to more than 500 endangered plant and animal species based on the land's ability to regenerate under the right conditions.
They decided to plant 2 Million trees in 20 years to restore a destroyed forest in Brazil. Even The wildlife has returned, some 172 bird species have returned, as well as 33 species of mammals, an entire ecosystem rebuilt from.

Liyuan Library - Li Xiaodong Atelier - Beijing, China - 2011

“On the one hand it forms a modern programmatic complement to the village by adding a small library and reading space within a setting of quiet contemplation. On the other hand we wanted to use architecture to enhance the appreciation of the natural landscaping qualities. So instead of adding a new building inside the village center, we chose this particular site in the nearby mountains, a pleasant five minute walk from the village center. In doing so we could provide a setting of clear thoughts when one consciously takes the effort to head for the reading room.

Because of the overwhelming beauty of the surrounding nature our intervention is modest in its outward expression. We can’t compete with nature’s splendor. The building blends into the landscape through the delicate choice of materials and the careful placement of the building volume. Especially the choice of material is crucial in blending with the regional characteristics. After analyzing the local material characteristics in the village we found large amounts of locally sourced wooden sticks piled around each house. The villagers gather these sticks all year round to fuel their cooking stoves. Thus we decided to use this ordinary material in an extraordinary way, cladding the building in familiar textures in a way that is strikingly sensitive.

The inside of the building has a very expressive character though; its interior is spatially diverse by using steps and small level changes to create distinct places. It frames views towards the surrounding landscape and acts as an embracing shelter. The building is fully glazed to allow for a fully daylight space.

A successful restaurant in New York must be “yummy,” according to Lionel Ohayon. The designer isn’t simply referring to the food, however. Rather, it’s the entire experience that comes from carefully combining lighting, acoustics, materiality, layout, visual impact, and a sense of discovery, together compelling diners to return time and again. That’s exactly what , where Ohayon is founder and CEO, intended for , an already buzzy Midtown restaurant developed by Altamarea Group and helmed by Singaporean chef Akmal Anuar. Its prime location is nestled at the base of Ateliers Jean Nouvel’s 53 West 53, a much-publicized residential tower that rises 82 stories into the Manhattan skyline as a series of carbon-gray shards, and accommodates part of the recent expansion of the adjoining Museum of Modern Art. This project is a result of a confluence of art, design for extreme environments and advanced manufacturing. The extreme complexity of the roof defines the whole project, considering that it forms 90% of the overall structure, the rest being 10 wooden columns and a glazed façade. The whole structural concept is driven by minimisation of carbon footprint and is performance orientated.⁠

the design process begun with 1:100 scaled models in foam, which evolved into clay sculptures in 1:10. simultaneously with the help of computer 3D modelling and with constant adjustments, the idea transformed into vision. following a GRC pouring process, the finished forms were transported on site for assembly. perceptual experience and adhoc judgement helped the designers gradually refine a more organic-looking scheme. as initially conceptualized, the caved café secludes people from the urban noise, offering a sensual and perceptual feel of returning to nature.
