It’s funny that I went into the haunted house, and I’m Deaf AF! I can’t hear people scream, but someone tried to scare me, and they knew sign language! So cool!
Alien signs I know some sign language I’m learning

Amazing!!!! I I haven’t gone to the movies with my young children, but I did go with my oldest, and I was really frustrated, so I stopped going. The theaters don’t take care of closed captioning, and their schedules for open captioning are so limited. Never just glasses! Now I can use HEARVIEW and have captions everywhere I go! PERIODDD!! Stay tuned for part 2! @hearview_official

Teaching ASL and using it in daily life can be quite different in terms of structure and expression:
Teaching ASL:
Formal Structure: Teaching often focuses on clear grammar, proper sentence structure, and vocabulary. The goal is to give students a foundational understanding, with attention to accuracy.
Concept Clarification: When teaching, you may break down signs into components to explain handshape, movement, location, and palm orientation.
Slower Pace: Instructors tend to sign slower and more deliberately so that learners can follow along and understand the language.
Textbook Signs: Instructors might teach the standardized or widely accepted signs that follow curriculum guidelines, even though there may be regional or cultural variations.
Daily Use of ASL:
Natural Flow: In daily communication, ASL is more fluid and informal, with regional or community-based variations.
Cultural Influences: People often incorporate slang, shortcuts, or more expressive facial and body movements. Signs may also vary based on a person’s background or personal experience (like my style).
Speed and Efficiency: Daily conversations may be faster, and less emphasis is placed on perfect grammar. Context and familiarity help fill in gaps.
Personalization: In daily life, people adapt signs for convenience or based on their community’s habits, much like how you learned to move the “wine” glass sign differently.
VD: QB with long pink and black braids. She is wearing a light pink tank top and has a nose ring. The video is captioned “TEACHING ASL VS” and “DAILY USE OF ASL.” A comment bubble above her head reads “I’ve seen you sign differently. Is that ASL?”. The background is a solid pink. She explains the difference between signing in American Sign Language (ASL) and other styles of sign language. She signs school, eggs, living room, and cooking, and the food is so good.

THROWBACK! Learning sign language is a powerful way to connect with Deaf family members and make them feel truly included. It fosters better communication, understanding, and strengthens family bonds. When families make the effort to learn ASL, it shows love and respect for the Deaf person’s identity and needs. Everyone deserves to feel included, especially in their own home!
