New Headshots From NAHJ! 📸
Una Familia De Periodistas Hispanos! It’s not just an association, but a family of new and old friends, colleagues and students reuniting and meeting at the annual National Association of Hispanic Journalists Convention. This time in my own hometown, Miami! It was so amazing to meet and talk to many professionals and students from all over the industry. Some of them, people who I’ve looked up to my whole life. Thank you to everyone that has helped me in just these past few days and to those who I hope to stick and story tell with now and in the future! I’m grateful to have started this new journey with NAHJ focusing on our main message: We Need More Latinos In News!
A month in and I am happy to be back with WKMG News 6 CBS in Orlando, Florida as a News Reporter Intern through the Emma Bowen Foundation fellowship! This is now the time to share people’s stories while learning from, informing and Getting Results for the Central Florida community. I am thankful for all the help and advice so far from the amazing News 6 crew that I get to work with every day! I can’t wait for what’s to come this second month back with you all!
It was inspiring to catch up again with old friends and meet up with new friends last week at the 2023 Emma Bowen Conference in New York City! Always awed at Nikki Bethel’s words when she talks to all of us and it was exciting to talk to the VP of Graham Media Group, Julie Dreixler, where I currently am a fellow at News 6 Orlando. Even made it to attend an event and connected with ! We need more diversity in News!

Walking Into Fall.
A longtime dream is coming true! I’m so happy to share that I’m joining and as an with Lester Holt Fall Intern! Ever since starting high school, I’ve dreamt of working/interning at 30 Rock and now the day comes! Watching Lester Holt and the Nightly News broadcasts knowing that there is a team of people that work so hard behind the camera to share these stories makes me proud and honored to get to learn from them this semester. Thank you to Ben Mayer and Janelle Richards for this opportunity and I greatly look forward to working with you all soon!
Was it a real or fake birthday picnic… the world may never know.
The ringing of the bells and the reading of the names happens every year during the commemoration ceremony on Sept. 11, as a tribute to those killed in the 2001 attacks and in the 1993 World Trade Center bombing. A former South Tower tour guide known as The World Trade Center Man retells his story from that day in a conversation I had with him.

We got results this summer! Thank you to everyone at News 6 CBS Orlando! This was my first internship with a TV news station and it was incredible. I learned a lot from the production team, the newsroom, the reporters and the anchors through all the stories that were told! There are so many names, but thank you to you all for all the advice and the expertise that you have all given me these past 10 weeks. You have all definitely made me feel like I was at home and part of the News 6 family! Thank you to the for connecting me to and !
It’s incredible how impactful conversations with a person you just met can be. It was so inspiring meeting and connecting with Emma Bowen Foundation CEO and President Nikki A. Bethel as well as with other Fellows. 💜

The future awaits, though it’s always good to look at the past and see how one can improve in their life. In the past few months to years, these stories have been important for me to cover and I’m looking forward to being able to tell more in the future. I would love to improve my work so if there are any tips that journalists out there could give me, feel free to leave some feedback! Thank you!
