Sailing Ragdoll

It’s been around three weeks since we arrived in Majorca, having spent the first week in the beautiful anchorage of Santa Ponsa, before making our way around the north part of the island towards Pollenca.

Between kid get-togethers, meeting even more kid families, birthday parties, pizza nights and the odd game of Runners and Riders (there’s been a significant amount of boats dragging in this anchorage!) we’ve had a great time.

Both Chris and I, alongside some of our other boaty friends started a dive course too! It’s been great fun.

With the forecasted winds, it looks like we will be here a little longer but frankly, no one is complaining!

We spent the last couple of weeks in Ibiza - between anchoring at Cala Llonga, Cala d’hort and now Cala Tarida.

We’re snorkeling, having fun, living life to the absolute fullest and summer isn’t even here yet.

This is why we did this.

After a 24hr passage we made it from Fuengirola to Almerimar last week before a few shorter pushes towards our first anchorage at Cabo de Gato, Garrucha and Cartagena where we awaited a weather window to cross to the promised lands of of clear waters in Formentera - BALEARICS!!! ⛵️🤪

We’ve been fairly quiet - a lot has been going on our way in the new year. Between unwell dogs, children and adults, boat projects, occasional storms passing through Gibraltar, working full time and attempting to have some form of a social life, we had disappeared off the face of the earth.

We are here though. Alive (mostly) and kicking.

There are also some really exciting news and changes coming up ahead… but we will say more in due course.

Life in Gibraltar has been great otherwise - we have met some really awesome people here and there will be some sad goodbyes up ahead when we do eventually leave.. but the beauty of this life is that we will see each other again, somewhere in the world - right? 🥹

Photo 1 - our Mimsy had a bumpy start to the year with a heartbreaking diagnosis of kidney disease & spinal arthritis BUT she’s on the mend now. We could not be more grateful and pleased with the local vets and their support over the last few weeks.

Photo 2 - We were so worried about homeschooling, Jasper’s social life & how things would pan out but this year he started online secondary school, aged 10 and despite his own bumps in the road, he is acing it 🥰

Photo 3 - Our goldens were glad to have Mimsy home ❤️ Their bond really shone through it all. They need their trio for their madness!

Photo 5 - it was so WINDY that our flag nearly flew away… caught it just in time… and its engraved with our wedding date… 😒

📍 Just can’t get enough of Gibraltar! 🌴🌞

Spent the past few weeks exploring this beautiful place and had an amazing time over Christmas with Daria’s brother. 🎄🎉

Oh, and let’s not forget about the monkeys - they definitely kept us entertained! 😄 Feeling grateful for an incredible 2023 and looking forward to an even more exciting 2024! 🥳✨

It’s been a busy but fun couple of weeks in Gibraltar. We have met some cool people & kid boats and generally had an absolute blast these last couple of weeks… but time has flown and all of a sudden it’s December?!

Rightfully so, our ChristMAST ‘tree’ went up & we are slowly getting into the Christmas spirit (whilst enjoying 20 degree sunshine) whilst knocking off a few ‘winter’ projects, like our aft teak - Yepp, that’s still NOT finished but we’re getting there!

Gibraltar has been great fun and we’re delighted that we ended up here for winter. Admittedly we haven’t filmed much these last couple of weeks so no new episode on YT this week but… there’s a few things in the pipeline!

Getting moving again after a short stay in Lagos, we readied Ragdoll for the trip across the Algarve. After hoisting the dinghy and paddle boards, we say goodbye to Lagos and pass out under the bridge and into the ocean again where not all is well… Chris didn’t observe his pre-passage anti seasickness routine and BAM… MAN DOWN! On our way to Sesimbra we stopped at this beautiful anchorage and damn…. We were not disappointed. Crystal clear waters, beautiful landscapes, sandy beach & isolated from the rest of the world. What a beaut ⛵️❤️

Having now lived on a boat for almost 6 months and having travelled well over 1000 nautical miles, it’s safe to say Jasper is thriving on the boat.

Today, marks the first day of his summer sailing school in Portugal 🇵🇹⛵️ He will be learning to sail dinghies on the Duoro River with perfect winds (and a bit of a river current!) and beautiful sunshine ☀️

Wohooo!

We've just arrived on OUR BOAT in PORTO.. in PORTUGAL!! It feels somewhat surreal 🤷‍♀️

We won’t be staying long, just a day or two before we head further south but we are ready to explore the vibrant streets, taste the delicious cuisine, and soak up the rich culture.

It is 33 degrees today and it’s the perfect day to be at anchor.

Today we’ve knocked out some chores, Chris worked through the day, we’ve filmed, edited, took the doggies for a zoom and of course, we then popped into the town for some (well deserved, even if I do say so myself) ice cream 🍦

We have now left Vigo and moved to anchor as we get ready to make our way down south, to Portugal mid week this week. Exciting!

We’ve been in the company of the delightful Michelle & Steven from Spirit Clyde for a couple of days and have thoroughly enjoyed meeting some likeminded people!

Plenty dinner, drinks, beach and paddle boards… it’s been a fantastic few days and it is SO GOOD to be back at anchor after being stuck in a marina for a couple of weeks.

Here’s to the next leg… but, we will enjoy Moana for just that little longer! We will miss the Spanish rias and couldn’t recommend them highly enough ☀️🙌

Ragdoll is looking spectacular & protected from the sunshine thanks to FLOW - Sail Your Best at Vigo who did a fantastic job at a really short notice. Alberto and his team absolutely rocked it out of the park! Thanks guys 🙌

The doggies are definitely appreciating the extra shaded areas now and the boat is much more comfy 🙌

It has now been just over a month since we arrived in Spain. 🇪🇸 A WHOLE MONTH!

We have thoroughly enjoyed our couple of weeks in A’Coruna, followed by two weeks of cruising the Spanish Rias and our current stay in Vigo whilst one of ours dogs was under vet care & whilst Chris flies back to the UK for work. We’re looking forward to picking up sailing and filming next week as we begin to head down south onto Portugal! 🇵🇹

Here’s a snapshot of our last couple of weeks…

1. At anchor in Boiro with some other kid boats - thanks to for the photo! Jasper had loved his time there, being able to play with other kids!

4. Our little floof who got cleared by the vet this week after being attacked by another dog!
5. For two weeks, whilst our friends visited, we were a four dog boat! Duchess is missed by our little pack..
6. We’ve become wine people… the wine here is SO DAMN GOOD.
7. My husbands romance is… well… something else 🤦‍♀️ As you can probably see, we’re finally moving on with that teak replacement project..
8. The view from the castle grounds in Vigo 🏰 We’ve loved exploring Vigo over the last few days. It’s a lively city with plenty of quiet books to hide away & relax!

We are LOVING the Spanish Rias as we explore them with our friends who came to see us for two weeks! 🌞🇪🇸

So far it’s been a week of pure bliss, laughter, and exploration! From the moment we set sail, we knew this journey would be something special. The crystal-clear waters, picturesque coastal towns, and hidden coves… 🏖️🌴

We're diving into the refreshing waters, snorkeling alongside colorful marine life, and soaking up the sun on pristine, glittery white sand beaches. ☀️🐠

But it's not just about the natural beauty; it's the company that makes this trip unforgettable. Our friends are here, sharing laughter, stories, and creating memories…🤗❤️

Every sunset paints the sky with a breathtaking palette of colors, reminding us of the beauty that surrounds us. We're grateful for this opportunity to explore together, to disconnect from the world and reconnect with nature and each other. 🌅💙
