TO INSTRUCT THE IGNORANT
Someone shared this meme and it made me think about how hard a time we have with this spiritual work of mercy.
It's definitely outside of the comfort zone of many.
First of all, we are afraid to correct because we don't want to appear to be judging. "Judge, not... judge not..", is a common phrase.
We are called to correct; we are called to instruct, but it must be done at the right time, but in the right way. We can not abnegate our responsibility of practicing this spiritual work of mercy.
Second, we tend to judge others more than we judge ourselves.
Do we see the beam in our own eyes?
Before we judge others, we should look at our own flaws and sins so that when we speak of another sinner, we are able to do it in all humility.
