Shah Hussain, was the son of a weaver but found his calling in spiritual pursuits. Known for his ‘Hussain Kafi’, this sixteenth century Punjabi Sufi poet’s work is still alive in Punjabi folk music.

In Sufism, the most significant relationship is that between a murshid (spiritual guide) and a muriid (disciple). Syed Abdullah Shah Qadri, fondly known as Baba Bulleh Shah, had a bittersweet relationship with his first Murshid – Shah Inayat. It served as the inspiration for some of Bulla’s well-known work.
