In a move set to redefine the premium spirits landscape in the Caribbean, J. Wray & Nephew Limited, a subsidiary of Campari Group, has successfully acquired Courvoisier, the renowned cognac brand. This historic deal, touted as the largest in Campari Group’s history, promises to enhance J. Wray & Nephew’s distribution capabilities and bolster its premium portfolio.

The acquisition of Courvoisier aligns with Campari Group’s long-term premiumization ambitions, particularly in aged spirits. Courvoisier’s rich heritage and award-winning portfolio will complement J. Wray & Nephew’s existing brands, including Appleton Estate, Espolon Tequila, Grand Marnier, and Lallier Champagne.

The company notes that retailers and distributors across the Caribbean will benefit from an expanded product range, while consumers will enjoy greater access to Courvoisier across various consumption occasions. Strategic marketing initiatives and promotional activities will elevate the brand’s presence, ensuring its quality and heritage are preserved.

“This acquisition marks a significant milestone for J. Wray & Nephew,” said Stefano Furini, Senior Marketing Director.

Furini “It strengthens our portfolio and provides an opportunity to share Courvoisier’s rich heritage with a broader audience.”

Founded in 1828 by Félix Courvoisier, Courvoisier is the youngest and most awarded of the ‘big four’ historical cognac houses. With its core collection of VS, VSOP, and XO, Courvoisier boasts solid brand credentials across versatile liquid styles.

As Courvoisier integrates into J. Wray & Nephew’s operations, they are expected enhanced distribution, marketing, and promotional efforts to cement the brand’s position in the Caribbean premium spirits market.

Jamaica takes top spot! Meet Odell Marsh, the trailblazing Jamaican who was just been elected as the 2025 American Development Council commissioner. For Osell, this role is more than just a title - it’s a stepping stone towards his ultimate goal of becoming World President. He’s passionate about making a meaningful impact and shaping the next generation of leaders.

As commissioner, Osell’s vision is to relaunch Junior Chamber International (JCI) in three additional countries in the Americas, providing incoming leaders with top-notch opportunities to excel at all levels. His top priorities include hosting the National Presidents Meeting in January, courtesy of JCI Suriname, and the American Leadership Academy in Honduras. He’s also focused on relaunching JCI in Guatemala, Peru, Chile, and Belize.

To foster collaboration between government agencies, private sector stakeholders, and community organizations, Osell plans to leverage initiatives like JCI In Business and the Conference of America. As the first Jamaican in this role, he hopes to bring a fresh perspective to the council, particularly on issues affecting smaller organizations in the region.

Ensuring that underrepresented communities are heard is also high on Osell’s agenda. He believes in equipping local leaders with the necessary resources to drive sustainable and impactful projects through JCI’s community action portfolio.

So, what makes Osell the perfect fit for this role? He embodies respect for diversity and inclusion, essential qualities for success in this position. With a team comprising members from across the Americas, Osell’s leadership style will celebrate different languages and backgrounds.

However, Odell’s aware of the challenges ahead - funding and logistics being the most significant. To tackle these, he plans to partner with like-minded organizations and address visa requirements and travel costs.

With Osell at the helm, the American Development Council is poised for exciting times ahead. His determination to make a difference will undoubtedly inspire a new generation of leaders.
