One of the things that makes Atlanta a Great American City is our black history and culture. Dining at locally-owned, minority-owned businesses year-round is a great (and delicious) way to support Atlanta's fabric.

"A nonprofit doesn't change a city. But I do think the city changed when it created Giving Kitchen. I genuinely believe that when the city of Atlanta and the food industry in Atlanta came together to make the organization that is the Giving Kitchen today, that it changed us."

- Bryan Schroeder on the latest episode of Dinner Tonight Atlanta.

The CARES Act provides some immediate relief to keep restaurants afloat temporarily but we'll need to continue fighting to survive this crisis.

The Independent Restaurant Coalition (IRC) was formed to save the local restaurants affected by COVID-19. IRC is founded on the simple belief that there is power to affect legislative change if we unite our voice.

This national movement is quickly growing and EVERYONE is welcome to join. Together, as small businesses across this country, we represent up to 4% of the nation's GDP.

For the 11 million people across the country employed by restaurants -- and the hundreds of millions of workers up and down the food supply and delivery chain who depend on restaurants -- these small businesses cannot fail.

The COVID-19 pandemic has shuttered restaurants and left millions of people without jobs. Local independent restaurants are small businesses and they need assistance now. Without help, the economy stands to lose up to 4% of the GDP – or $1 trillion.

Hey everyone! I hope you are all staying healthy and safe at home. I'm working on a few upcoming episodes that are a different format during this crazy time. I'll be interviewing a few foodies and other folks from the Atlanta Restaurant scene to share how we can all help out local food service workers and restaurants during the pandemic.

Until then, stay home, stay safe and check in on each other, ya hear!

What the heck is a micro podcast?

TL;DR - a micro podcast is a really short audio show.

I’m Susan Cooper, host of the Dinner Tonight Atlanta podcast. Trying out new restaurants in Atlanta is one of my favorite things to do. I love food, new experiences and all the cool neighborhoods and cultures that Atlanta has to offer. I’ve lived here for 20 years and I haven’t even scratched the surface of all the great things to do. The thing is, we have so many awesome restaurants here, it can almost get overwhelming trying to pick a spot, amiright? That’s why I’ve created this daily micro podcast to help you decide where to go out to eat. I’m not going to give you a long-winded bougie restaurant critic’s review. I’m just here to tell you where you’re going to eat tonight. In about 60 seconds flat, your decision will be made and you can stop hemming and hawing about where to go.

I might send you to an Atlanta landmark restaurant. I might send you to your old favorite dive bar. I might even send you to a world renowned 5-star restaurant. I will most likely send you to neighborhoods you haven’t visited before. It’s time for all of us to get out of our bubble and try something new. So let’s go out to Dinner Tonight, Atlanta!
