HYDROQUINONE and why it's so damn controversial
Hydroquione is a topical cream that has been used to lighten dark spots (Hyperpigmentation) for decades. Here's the tricky part

Products containing Hydroquinone can not be used for long periods of time because it can cause a rebound effect also known as rebound hyperpigmentation, which is usually even harder to treat.

Products containing up to 2% Hydroquinone can still be purchased over the counter although it has been banned at higher concentrations by the FDA in 2020.

Our take: Short term use of products containing Hydroquinone, with appropriate sunscreen and a check in with your derm when using hydroquinone products
