Islam and war
Islam sets down clear guidelines as to when war is ethically right, and clear guidelines as to how such a war should be conducted.

In brief, war is permitted:

-in self defence
-when other nations have attacked an Islamic state
-if another state is oppressing its own Muslims
War should be conducted:

-in a disciplined way
-so as to avoid injuring non-combatants
-with the minimum necessary force
-without anger
-with humane treatment towards prisoners of war
Muslims must only wage war according to the principles of Allah's justice.

Those who believe fight in the way of Allah, and those who disbelieve fight in the way of the Shaitan.
Qur'an 4:76

Islam allows war in self-defence (Qur'an 22:39), to defend Islam (rather than to spread it), to protect those who have been removed from their homes by force because they are Muslims (Qur'an 22:40), and to protect the innocent who are being oppressed (Qur'an 4:75).

But some Muslim thinkers in the past, and some more radical Muslim thinkers today, take a different view. They say that other verses in the Qur'an, the so-called 'sword verses', have "abrogated" (revoked or anulled) the verses that permit warfare only in defence. They used these 'sword verses' to justify war against unbelievers as a tool of spreading Islam (Qur'an 9:5, 9:29).

Others take this further and regard non-Muslims, and Muslims who don't conform rigorously to the Islamic code, as non-believers and thus as "enemies of God" against whom it is legitimate to use violence.

But the idea of a total and unrestricted conflict is completely unIslamic.

Fight in the cause of God against those who fight you, but do not transgress limits. God does not love transgressors.
Qur'an 2:190

Islam is in favour of peace and against violence. Murdering the innocent leads to punishment in Hell:

If anyone killed a person - unless it was for murder or for spreading mischief in the land - it would be as if he killed the whole people
Qur'an 5:32

The aims of war
The Qur'an emphasises that war should be fought only for noble motives without seeking any earthly reward:

Those who readily fight in the cause of God are those who forsake this world in favor of the Hereafter. Whoever fights in the cause of God, then gets killed, or attains victory, we will surely grant him a great recompense.
Qur'an 4:74

The conduct of war
Islam bans the killing of non-combatants (Qur'an 2:190, above), or of a combatant who has been captured.

Muslims are forbidden from attacking wounded soldiers (unless the wounded person is still fighting).

The Prophet's view of non-combatants is shown by a hadith in which Muhammad sees a woman killed in the battlefield and condemns the action.

When an enemy is defeated he should be made prisoner rather than be killed:

So when you meet in battle those who disbelieve, then smite the necks until when you have overcome them, then make (them) prisoners, and afterwards either set them free as a favor or let them ransom (themselves) until the war terminates.
Qur'an 47:4

Abu Bakr (the First Caliph) gave these rules to an army he was sending to battle:

Do not commit treachery or deviate from the right path.

You must not mutilate dead bodies.

Neither kill a child, nor a woman, nor an aged man.

Bring no harm to the trees, nor burn them with fire, especially those which are fruitful.

Slay not any of the enemy's flock, save for your food.

You are likely to pass by people who have devoted their lives to monastic services; leave them alone

Abu Bakr

A noble example of ideal Muslim conduct of war is the capture of Jerusalem by Saladin in 1187. Although a number of holy Muslim places had been violated by Christians, Saladin prohibited acts of vengeance, and his army was so disciplined that there were no deaths or violence after the city surrendered. The residents were taken prisoner, but their ransom was set at a token amount.

This article looks at the guidelines in islam as to when war is ethically right and how such a war should be conducted.

This by far is one of the coolest things that happened to me after one of the worst.
In 2016 there were a rise in websites that sells digital codes for PC games like G2A and Cdkeys. They were selling new games $20 to $30 cheaper than big stores like; GameStop, Steam, Amazon, Walmart, etc.
I said to myself I wish there is a way to sell these codes on these big stores. They are the same, but one almost half the price of the other.
Then it hit me, the only place I can sell freely is eBay, right? Spoilers, it was one the worst idea I came up with since I didn’t know much about selling on eBay.
At that time, one of the hot games was Far Cry Primal. I checked its price and compared it to eBay prices. Cdkeys and G2A were cheaper.
Before buying the game keys, I put up the listing for 5 Far Cry keys, and I made sure to mention, it’s digital shipping only by email. They sold fast, then I went to buy the keys from Cdkeys, came to find out there is only 2 keys limit, Oh no.
Cdkeys suspected a fraud, and they asked for my ID and proof me is me etc.
I told them I need these keys so bad, and I promised people with them. Finally, they let me buy all.
After delivering all keys I come to find out about eBay fees, and I lost on all of them. Not just that, I send 3 of them to a hacked accounts, and the people after finding out they refund their money. The buyer of the 4th key said he did not receive any thing and he want it shipped in the mail. After going back and forth with eBay he got his money back and of course he used the key. Digital shipping on eBay is bad.
Bad part ended…
The cool part started….
During that time, I found a listing on Amazon for Dark Souls II: Collector's Edition – PC and the price was $19.99. Here is the list of the items included. It sounded way too good of a deal. I bought two of them hoping to be able to sell them on eBay or something. Before trying, I found Dark Souls II Black Armor Edition – PC which includes
Dark Souls II game code for PC, collectible metal case, original game soundtrack CD
On amazon for under than $15, and the game code only was selling around $30 on G2A. I was like is this real!! So, I decide to buy one and sell the game code only on G2A, I tried to list it under Dark Souls II - Black Armor edition, but for some reason they told me no, it should be listed under Dark Souls II standard. It came out better since the standard edition were more popular and had higher price than the black armor edition, and people still got the black armor edition which is better. So, no one is complaining.
I believe I listed 3, the ones from the collector and the one from the Black Armor Edition, and the sold fast for around $30. That’s double what I paid for the Black Armor Edition.
Then I spammed the buy button. I ended up buying around 70 of them, the more I buy the more they put in the stock. This the exact listing, they seem to have over over stock, and this one of the sellers I bought from in 2016. And all were sold on G2A for about double the price. Oh man I felt guilty doing that.
After I stopped selling on G2A, I had about 70 Super cool steal case with a soundtrack CD in it. I listed 50 of them on eBay for around $7 and called it. Super Cool Dark Souls II 2 Steel Case / SteelBook With OST, No Game. All of them were sold.
I didn’t make huge amount of money, from the whole experience, nor I made continues living of it, but it felt like winning, and it felt good.
The whole experience was 1% skills and 99% luck for reasons we don’t know… Success is a mystery.
