This afternoon, I posted a screenshot of one of my bank balance which had about 18k naira on my WhatsApp status, and I added the caption “if anybody bills me henceforth, I’d just know you’re after my life”. People started sending me DMs saying it’s a lie, it’s one of your bank accounts, you that I know can never go broke, rich man no lie give us, and more replies. Someone even said, this one is definitely the account you use for data subscriptions.

The funniest thing is that even people I’ve helped before were saying “baba, you no fit broke, no dey whyne us”.

All I got from this is, make sure you put a limit to how you help people. Don’t go broke in the process, always put yourself first. Truth is, if the money finishes, a lot of people won’t come through for you. It’s whyning that they will use to finish you and you’ll suffer after. People won’t even believe you that you’re broke to start with. You don’t want to see yourself in that position, trust me.

I was just imagining if that was my only account and I was truly down financially at the moment, that’s how no one will believe that I’m actually down financially, so I’d get no help, not even from people I’ve helped before.

Don’t go broke trying to help people, always put yourself first.
