WHO IS THIS MAN DR OSITO KALLE?

The year was around 1997 or 1998!

The then national broadcaster KBC used to organize a popular annual benga competition at Nyayo National Stadium called 'Battle Of the Bands!'Musicians and bands back then looked forward to this event, which had corporate sponsors, and whose winner, I think, walked away with ksh 1 million.

Stars of those days like Joseph Kamaru, Sukuma Bin Ongaro, Aziz Abdi, Freshley Mwamburi, Habel Kifoto, Teddy Kalanda Harrison.Queen Jane, DK Kamau, Timona Mburu, and others, put their best feet forward.

But it was the Luo benga maestros who had been winning it. That year, there was fierce rivalry between Princess Jully with Jolly Boys Band, and Aluoch Jamaranda with Super Hekaheka,just about a year after the death of their leader, the great Okach Biggy.
Both musicians, Princess July and Aluoch Jamaranda, were flying high with two songs, both called MALOMALO! Luoland was split right in the middle;with Kisumu/Siaya people throwing their weight behind Jamaranda, while the Migori/Homabay people rooting for Princess.The stage was set! The MC was the Blackest man in Black Africa, Uncle Fred Obachi Machoka!

After the other benga musicians like Kamaru, Sukuma, Aziz and others had been literally booed offstage by the overzealous, restless and excitable crowd,who had travelled far and wide...... to witness who was great between Jamaranda and Jully, their turn came.The two did their best. On one hand, Princess Jully's energy, stage presence and stage show(led by dancer Atommy Sifa wuod Adiedo)was just out of this world!

On the other hand, Aluoch Jamaranda's benga mastery, guitar wizardry and husky voice, was enchantingly bewitching!The judges had a really difficult time determining the winner between Jamaranda and Jully.

Mother loses two children within three months, how painful.
A family in Kisumu is mourning again following the death of Ochieng Jakablack in an accident along State House Road.
Ochieng died just 9 days after sharing images of the house he had completed building. Sadly, he has rested before enjoying the fruits of his hard work.
It is a double tragedy to the family as he perished just two months after his sister died under unclear circumstances. Moko lit chalo mana lwet dhano nitiere...

COP ADMITTED IN HOSPITAL AFTER CITY BABES FIGHT FOR HIM

What began as a fun-filled night with a happy ending in sight, ended up in tears for a police officer based at Kware police station in Embakasi, who is currently admitted in a city hospital.

The officer left his place of work after his shift and opted to enjoy the rest of the night irrigating his throat with a few swallows, at the Villa police station canteen.

While imbibing his drinks he engaged one of the bar stewards who was serving him identified as Lucy Mueni in a hearty conversation.

Mueni appeared to have been smitten by the recently graduated officer as, she would sit next to him giggling in excitement, whenever she was not serving the rest of the patrons.

This however did not go down well with her colleague Favian Nekesa, who was seated behind the counter burning with rage, her eyes rolling in anger.

Unbeknownst to Mueni, her colleague was equally attracted to the cop with an athletic physique and a neatly trimmed moustache. They must have had a thing before.

Unable to take any more of their shenanigans, Nekesa left the counter flying and launched a barrage of blows and kicks at the hapless Mueni who was sent tumbling on the floor injuring her head and hands.

Before the officer knew what was happening, he was met with flying projectiles from Nekesa as the altercation developed to a full blown commotion attracting other police officers on patrol to the bar, who brought back sanity.

The two injured lovebirds who had just met were then escorted to nearby Mukuru health centre for medical attention and allowed to go home.

However, the officer’s condition deteriorated and at around 3am, he was rushed to a city hospital where he is currently admitted in stable condition nursing his wounds.

Investigations into the incident have since been launched.
