This is a good time to share one of my absolute favourite pieces of music. It was composed by Gavin Bryars and features a continuous loop of a an unknown homeless man singing. There is something so sweet and vulnerable about his voice and yet there is a real conviction to it as well. Even a staunch atheist like myself can appreciate it. I just love how the strings slowly build and build. This version is 26 minutes but there are versions that go up to 74 minutes. It can feel a little strange but I urge you to sit somewhere quiet and listen to the entire piece. It is so calming and I think we could all use some of that

What they keep forgetting to add is the ongoing return visit costs which for me have well over doubled the overall cost of a diagnosis which offers pretty much zero support cost reductions.

Doctors say a health system overhaul is needed to improve the diagnosis and treatment process for ADHD. The federal government says it is supporting the creation of national prescribing rules, an ADHD inquiry recommendation.

Rini Puccetti posted a funny image about AI and it fired up one of my current special interests topics. Which is why AI is a good thing for artists.

I love and welcome AI in the arts. It means that artists can get on with the job of pushing boundaries, innovating, being free to express unencombered and leave the sh*tty corporate and repetitive crap for AI to handle. In five years the Billboard top 50 could be flooded with AI produced music and would usher in a golden age of free expression like we saw in the mid to late 60s. And when the claws of capitalism grab something inspired and wring every bit of usefulness out of it for profit, the songwriter has already moved on. The songwriter could even be the one taking the profits by generating AI variations of the idea until people are bored.

Manipulate AI rather than the other way around.

Episode 56 out now.

In this episode, we explore how our brains form and hold beliefs, even when they aren't factual. We discuss good vs. bad evidence, Autism and Identity Theory, and how personal experiences shape our beliefs. We also have fun with a fake product and read listener comments.

Consider supporting the podcast via Patreon for the price of a coffee once a month. It goes a long way to help cover the costs.
