The Bridge of Spoken Bonds

Literacy is much more than having the ability to read and writeโ€”but it is also about having the voice to speak up for the people, opening doors for possibilities, and becoming the path for freedom.

The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) highlights the significance of literacy to the communities through celebrating ๐ˆ๐ง๐ญ๐ž๐ซ๐ง๐š๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง๐š๐ฅ ๐‹๐ข๐ญ๐ž๐ซ๐š๐œ๐ฒ ๐ƒ๐š๐ฒ that recognizes the essential role of the people in achieving the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4, ensuring an inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all.

International Literacy Day 2024โ€™s theme is "๐๐ซ๐จ๐ฆ๐จ๐ญ๐ข๐ง๐  ๐Œ๐ฎ๐ฅ๐ญ๐ข๐ฅ๐ข๐ง๐ ๐ฎ๐š๐ฅ ๐„๐๐ฎ๐œ๐š๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง: ๐‹๐ข๐ญ๐ž๐ซ๐š๐œ๐ฒ ๐Ÿ๐จ๐ซ ๐Œ๐ฎ๐ญ๐ฎ๐š๐ฅ ๐”๐ง๐๐ž๐ซ๐ฌ๐ญ๐š๐ง๐๐ข๐ง๐  ๐š๐ง๐ ๐๐ž๐š๐œ๐ž.โ€ With multilingualism being a prevalent practice for many, promoting the adoption of a first language-based, multilingual approach is valuable with its cognitive, pedagogical, and socio-economic benefits to literacy development and education that fosters understanding and becoming a way in achieving lasting peace.

Let us explore the literacy world of creating connections and building harmony through the poem.

In every tongue, a bridge is made,
From minds to hearts, where dreams cascade.
In education, we find the keys,
Opening doors to peace with ease.

In a world full of words,
May literacy be the swords.
Beyond the pages, through the screen,
Let echoes of everyone be heard and seen.

Inclusivity amidst cultural issues and diversity,
Achieved with the help of literacy.
Acts as our bridge, firmly clasp serenity,
In every heart, planting a seed of unity.

Every language becomes our light,
Guiding us through the darkest night.
Diversity made a beautiful sight to see,
All thanks to the gifts of literacy.

In the vast space where stories flow,
And every soul seeks to glow,
Literacy becomes the sacred thread,
Weaving bonds where wisdom is spread.

A Leader, A Visionary, A Community Advocate, KAABAG of Lapu-Lapu City

Today, we celebrate the day of our esteemed Mayor Junard "Ahong" Chan, a remarkable leader whose dedication to Lapu-Lapu City has transformed lives and uplifted communities.

As he marks another year, let us take a moment to reflect on his tireless work, unwavering commitment, and inspiring vision that made a lasting impact. From revitalizing local neighborhoods to promoting sustainability and fostering unity, Mayor Ahong Chan has proven time and again that leadership is about more than the policies being made but it's about the peopleโ€”the Oponganons.

It is Mayor Ahong Chan's compassion and accessibility that truly resonates with the people. Whether at city hall meetings, local events, or in the heart of the city, he always takes time to listen and advocate for all citizens, ensuring that everyoneโ€™s voice is heard.

Mayor Ahong Chan, we celebrate not only your birthday but also your incredible dedication to the community. The ever active, dedicated, and KAABAG of the Oponganons of Lapu-Lapu City.

"Leadership is the capacity to translate vision into reality,โ€ quoted by Warren Bennis.

Your passion for public service has established a high benchmark for leadership and commitment.

As Nelson Mandela once said, โ€œWhat counts in life is not the mere fact that we have lived. It is what difference we have made to the lives of others that will determine the significance of the life we lead.โ€ And it is exactly that your dedication and vision have truly transformed the community and enriched countless lives.

On behalf of Lapu-Lapu City College, we wish you a year ahead filled with success, joy, and continued strength in leading the city towards a brighter future.

Happy birthday, Mayor Junard "Ahong" Chan!

๐‹๐€๐“๐‡๐€๐‹๐€๐ˆ๐ | Guro-verse: Ibaโ€™t Ibang Titser, Ibaโ€™t Ibang Kulay ng Pagtuturo

"Pass your papers in five minutes!" ang laging sigaw, habang ang mga estudyanteโ€™y kumakaripas ng takboโ€™t nag-aagawan ng papel na isusumite.

Lahat ay dapat โ€œthe bestโ€ at walang mintis.

Embracing Who We Are

As we celebrate the value of our individual well-being, we also emphasize the importance of supporting people facing issues related to s*xual health. Today, on the inaugural celebration of World Sexual Health Day, with the theme "Positive Relationships," this campaign encourages us to start planning how we can get involved and positively impact each community, continue to raise awareness, and take actions that can help reduce stigma and improve access to essential health resources.

The world is facing serious issues regarding s*xual health that affect individuals across the globe. It is crucial for everyone to embrace cooperation and start holding hands in promoting education and raising awareness in different communities, particularly among marginalized groups that have received fewer educational campaigns.

Through education, the battle against ignorance about s*xual health is mitigated. Everyone should be more open to this concept, as it is a part of life and should not be considered taboo. Trust, respect, and open communication are the foundations of a positive relationship. These values should not be overlooked but rather normalized.

All in all, this annual celebration reminds everyone that ๐ฌ๐ž๐ฑ๐ฎ๐š๐ฅ ๐ก๐ž๐š๐ฅ๐ญ๐ก ๐ข๐ฌ ๐ฆ๐ฎ๐œ๐ก ๐ฆ๐จ๐ซ๐ž ๐ญ๐ก๐š๐ง ๐ฐ๐ก๐š๐ญ ๐ฆ๐ž๐ž๐ญ๐ฌ ๐ญ๐ก๐ž ๐ž๐ฒ๐ž ๐จ๐ซ ๐ฐ๐ก๐š๐ญ ๐ข๐ฌ ๐ก๐ž๐š๐ซ๐; it is something we should all be mindful of. After all, isn't that what "positive relationships" are truly about?

๐… A Cornerstone of Democracy

In a nation where the pen is both a weapon and a shield, the battle for truth is fought daily by those who have pledged their lives to the craft of journalism.

Today, August 30, is hereby declared "National Press Freedom Day" in honor of Marcelo H. Del Pilar, the father of Philippine journalism, who wrote under the pen name "Plaridel." Press freedom, a cornerstone of democracy, has never been more critical or more endangered than it is today. Over the years, Filipino journalists have faced threats, harassment, and even death for exposing the truth. Despite these dangers, they persist, driven by a commitment to uncovering the stories that matter. The stories they tell are not just news; they are the lifeblood of our democracy. When journalists are silenced, so too is the publicโ€™s right to know.

This is why the fight for press freedom is not just the fight of journalists but of every Filipino who values truth and justice. We must protect national press freedom with the same vigor that we protect all other civil liberties. Let's not wait until it's too late. Let's stand up for the truth, for transparency, and for the freedom that allows our voices to be heard.

National Press Freedom Day reminds us that

We are one family," said Mr. Paulino Mahusay, a fourth-year BSHM student, when asked about the significance of the acquaintance party in a random interview.

๐… Heroes of Then and Now

"Heroes never die. They live on forever in the hearts and minds of those who would follow in their footsteps." - Emily Potter.

National Heroes Day is a special annual occasion where we come together to celebrate and recognize the extraordinary individuals who have made significant contributions to the development and progress of our beloved nation. These people may have lived decades ago, but they still remain alive in the minds of every Filipino. Through their unwavering dedication, selflessness, courage, and love of country, these heroes have left an indelible mark on our history.

Today, anyone can embody the qualities of a hero. Modern heroes come from all walks of life, and their bravery, compassion, and determination to make a difference are truly inspiring. Whether they are fighting for justice, advocating for a cause, or simply showing kindness to those in need, modern heroes remind us that anyone can make a difference. We should strive to be heroes ourselves.

Together, let us take a moment to honor the sacrifices and appreciate the dedication of our national heroes. Let us continue to strive for a better Philippines and protect the future they fought for.
