1. Anime is huge, especially in Japan.

According to a 2004 document from the Japan External Trade Organization, anime films and television shows account for 60% of the world’s animation-based entertainment. Almost 40 schools in Japan have declared anime as an individual subject on its own. Anime voice acting is also huge, as Japan has around 130 voice-acting schools. In Japan, more paper is used to print manga than toilet paper.

2. The highest-grossing anime film of all time is Kimi no Na Wa (Your Name).

The critical and commercial success of Makoto Shinkai’s Your Name can’t be understated. This film brought in more than $355 million worldwide.
A unique and fictional storyline really makes this anime movie stand out from the others. Amazingly, most of the places shown in this anime are real! Here is one of them!

3. Anime is not the same as “cartoon,” contrary to popular belief.

The majority of the scenes of the film were set to take place during the night, which was generally avoided by the animators during those days because of those scenes requiring extremely high usage of colors and that too with very high precision to make the film look pleasing. Akira broke all those norms and used an astounding number of 327 colors in the movie, of which 50 were exclusively created for the film and its scene requirements.

When it comes to banning anime for inappropriate material, China certainly isn’t shy. The Chinese government has banned popular anime series like Highschool of the Dead, Attack on Titan, and Psycho-Pass without hesitation.

11. The creator of Bleach has a reason for naming the anime Bleach.

Kubo, the creator of Bleach, stated two reasons why he named this anime as Bleach. First, because we bleach our clothes to remove stains and to whiten them, similarly to how soul reapers cleanse or bleach souls. Second, it was a Nirvana album’s name, which is one of Kubo’s favorite.

Boruto Introduced a Whole New 'God-Tier' Jutsu

Naruto pulled inspiration from all across Shinto mythology. Now, Boruto is doing the same with the introduction of a new "god-tier" jutsu.

Those who are familiar with Masashi Kishimoto's Naruto and Boruto know that the author loves to pull inspiration from Japanese myth and culture. Kishimoto takes these concepts and adapts them to fit into his ninja universe, resulting in some pretty interesting lore and world-building. This trend continues in Naruto's sequel series, Boruto, focusing on a brand new "god-tier" jutsu.

Prior to Boruto, Naruto establishes a powerful clan of ninja known as the Uchiha. The Uchiha play a prominent part in the overall story, and they are well known for being users of some incredibly powerful ninjutsu, all thanks to their familial Mangekyou Sharingan. These jutsu are "god-tier" not only because of their power but because the gods of Japanese myth are their literal namesake. Amaterasu, Tsukuyomi, and Susanoo, to name the main ones, are the most influential deities in Shinto myth.

Naming jutsu after Japanese deities is a trope that Boruto continues, and the series even uses it in a literal sense. The villain Isshiki Otsutsuki uses a jutsu called Sukunahikona, one that allows him to shrink any nonorganic object down to a microscopic size. In Shinto mythology, Sukunahikona (sometimes Sukunabikona) is the son of one of the creation goddesses and is depicted as a dwarf smaller than a thumb. He is associated with healing, brewing sake, and hot springs. Together, Sukunahikona and another god helped build the world and protected humans against disease and wild animals.

Aside from gods, Kishimoto has adapted other aspects of Shinto myth, such as Kurama the nine-tailed fox, albeit with some slight modifications. What makes this instance of Sukunahikona so interesting is that the justu actually correlates alongside its real-world origin. Amaterasu, Tsukuyomi, and Susanoo require an understanding of their stories and nuances to see how the jutsu might align with their mythical counterparts, but it is easy to see with Sukunahikona. The god is a dwarf, and the jutsu shrinks objects. It really doesn't get any more literal than that.

Naruto is a series that is chock full of mythological references and inspirations, and it is great to see Boruto follow suit with that, while also giving fans the most literal adaptation with Sukunahikona. Now that Naruto and Sasuke have been nerfed, Boruto is ready to move on full steam ahead. Hopefully, as the series progresses, there will be more callbacks and adaptations from Shinto religion, not only to further build up Naruto and Boruto's world of ninja and "god-tier" jutsu, but to appeal to mythology buffs everywhere.

Greninja's return with a new promo🔥

Pokemon fans know Ash has quite a few monsters under his command, but his partners aren't all made equally. Guys like Pikachu get all the glory, and Ash has given several other catches the spotlight over the years. One of them is Greninja as you might know, and a new episode title for Pokemon Journeys is previewing the partner's return.

The update comes on the heels of Pokemon Journeys' newest episode titles. It was there fans learned episode 108 is slated to drop on April 29th, and it will reunite Ash with Greninja, but they won't be alone. The pair will be joined by Lucario for a special training session.

According to the Pokemon report, episode 108 is titled "Lucario and Greninja! The Wave of Destiny!" so it does a good job at setting things up. After all, the opening for Pokemon Journeys this cour did highlight Greninja a while back. We all knew it was just a matter of time before the Pokemon showed up, and fans were right.

Of course, Greninja's return is a big deal as the evolution is a favorite with Ash. Not only is the Kalos starter insanely powerful, but he formed a very close bond with Ash during their travels. After Frogadier evolved into Greninja, the final form was able to power up using Ash's own strength thanks to Bond Phenomenon. So as you can imagine, the pair were close.

Since leaving Kalos, Ash has been without Greninja, but the pair will come together before long. The trainer has spent time recently training up Lucario, and the Pokemon seems to share a bond with Ash similar to the one Greninja forged. So if there is anyone out there who can help Ash train Lucario, it would be everyone's favorite ninja frog.
