Worlds wealthiest welfare mom dies. News at 11.

The whole "if they can do it to Trump they can do it to you" is baffling to me.

Of course they can. The idea is that we are equal under the law.

They show they're hand that they don't believe that. That they think some people (the people on their side) should be above the law.

The people of Ukraine are proving themselves to be badasses incarnate. A powerful military is attacking and attempting to occupy their country and they pulling out all stops to fight back.

But I can't help but wonder how many Iraqis or Afghanis fought with the same sentiment in their hearts when we occupied their homes only to be called insurgents and terrorists. Surely in the war on terror their were enemy groups with ill intent for the populations of their homelands, but was that all the " insurgents", or were some just badasses defending their homes from a powerful occupying force?

Just had me thinking.

Fun fact. The supply demand curve that every business major dude bro who took freshman econ insists you don't understand defines deman as only those who can pay for something.

The very nature of the damn graph puts the whims of the wealthy above the necessities of the poor.

I'm all for canceling student debt. But without actions to reign in the runaway tuition costs of publicly funded colleges, we're just kicking the can down the road.

This pandemic has faced us with a question that I think has become somewhat obfuscated by the misinformation and motivated reasoning surrounding the debate. That question is this

How many other people must be put in harm's way or even die to defend your "personal freedoms".

We have been shown that the old adage of "you're right to swing your fist end at the other guy's nose" is considered limiting to the point of tyranny by a certain number of our fellow Americans.

I hate to break it to you guys, but reason it's unlikely the rich elites had Epstein killed is because they had literally no reason to. The people who run our world are not accountable to the system they themselves built. What do you all imagine would have happened if Epstein testified? What grand cleansing would have occurred? We all know who partied with the fu**er, his victims and his cohorts are still alive with tongues to speak. So what magic would having a fallen billionaire speak cast that would somehow bring low the elites? Maybe Epstein killed himself and maybe he didn't, but why would his powerful former friends bother to care. He had no power to hurt them, regardless of what he said.

If you care about social justice and marginalized people, you have to recognize that it applies to many rural populations around our country, where communities are often monopolized by one or two major employers, utilities are in disrepair and sometimes non existent, the opioid crises has hit like an atom bomb, and regulations that make sense in urban and suburban settings create and undue burden on communities as poor or poorer than many of their urban counterparts.

Caring about marginalized people doesn't end with the bus line.

Talking heads who blame government handouts for the labor shortage are missing the point. People are sick of crap jobs at crap wages.

Gonna be honest. I hate the idea of some lazy do**he, who could be doing something useful with their time, sponging off people who are doing something useful.
I believe in mutual aid, and there are some selfish as****es who figure if food, water, shelter, and healthcare are just being given away they can just coast.
Bugs the s**t outta me.
They are not being mutual with their aid.

And I still believe that those lazy fu**ers should have unfettered access to food.
As much water as they can drink and bathe and wash in,
Every cut, scrape, bruise, toothache, and cough treated for free,
And a roof and room of their own to come home to every night.

I believe these things are human fu***ng rights. That means that my personal issues with a lazy bastard are irrelevant. That lazy bastard is a human and deserves every last right that comes with it. You can't lazy away an inalienable right.

Despite appearances I actually think markets are pretty neat. They exist in every economic system, not just capitalism. But I agree with Adam Smith, that one of the roles of government is to check the excesses of a market.

The current unemployment is a great example. Working is not currently a necessity. Its econ 101 that supply and demand don't apply to necessities because demand can't change.
So when selling your labor was a necessity, it was not subject to the market. It was coercive.

Now we can see what labor is really worth. People need only sell it when a suitable price is met between the laborer selling and the firm buying. For the first time in my life. We actually have a true market in labor.

There is a great response to the "both sides" nonsense in this column.

There is a great response to the "both sides" nonsense in this column.

A survey after the insurrection in January found that 56% of Republicans agreed that force might be needed to save “the traditional American way of life."

If they really believed in the right to work they would pass a bill ending no cause termination.

The GOP right now had zero interest in governing. They have painted their opponents as demonic pedophiles. You can't govern with that, there is no way to form a consensus with people you have lead your base to believe torture children.
And those that don't buy such conspiracy theories are only interested in "owning libs" which is not a successful strategy for good governance either.
Im not exaggerating or trying to be overtly partisan. The rhetoric of the Republican party makes successful governance something that is not possible

If policing were as dangerous as police pretend it is a significant number of them would quit.
Bullies don't like a real threat.

Looking at the vast divisions fomenting in the country, at least partially reinforced by venal f**ksticks and fraudsters looking to make a quick buck or power grab, maybe its time for the US to pack it it. Maybe its time to dissolve the union into 50 separate countries with a common currency. Different states could form blocs if they want, but we no longer remain inextricably bound to each other. Maybe the answer to WWG1WGA is to make that objectively and obviously not true.

So idea for a constitutional amendment. We elecet presidents four years out. So in 2024 we elect the guy who is going to take office in 2028. Then that president-elect spends the next four years in a maximum-security prison. Anyone who wants to wield that level of power must spend four years understanding what it is to have no power whatsoever.
Also, pretty much every president of the modern era, with the possible exception of Jimmy Carter, has committed acts that would be considered war crimes if not performed by a superpower, so we just get ahead of the game since we'll never actually convict any of them for anything.
